Ways on how to improve yourself
Are you feeling down? Do you feel like your life is a mess? You are not the only one. As we grow old, we often realize that the life we are living has a lot of flaws. But that doesn’t mean that there’s nothing we can do about it. We all take different paths for our future but we all face problems in life that affect us personally. These problems often causes us to change into a meesier version of ourselves. But it is never too late for you to change for the better. Here are ten simple ways that you can do to improve yourself.
Limit your time on Social media
Social media is where people voices out their opinion; a place where people have liberty to tell their opinions about anything. But this can also be a scary place for anyone. A lot of bullying happens on the social media. People tend to verbally attack other people that has a different opinion than them. Hate crime is also prominent in the social media. That is why in order for a person to improve themselves, they need to distance themselves on any social media platforms. This way, you wouldn’t feel the need to listen to other peoples’ opinion that may cause you a negative effect. While being way from social media, you can focus on the more important things in your life. You can be physically active, learn a new language, read a book, and spend more time with your loved ones.
There was a time when I was having personal problems and being chronically online is not helping me. The longer time I spent on social media the worse I got. I decided to take a break and uninstalled my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter so that I wouldn’t see the negative things on social media. While being away from the internet, I learned how to paint, and play an instrument, and I began reading again. Limiting my time on social media is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. – Pamela Jane Cauinian
2. Focus on your study
One of the best way to improve yourself is by studying hard. Education is one of the keys to success; it does not only beneficial for your future but it can also be beneficial for your well-being. Good study habits can boost your confidence, competence, and self-esteem. You can also practice good time management and other new skills when studying.
I am not as smart as other students, I can’t pick up a lesson right away, and sometimes I am lazy. But I always do my best to get a good grades that I can show to my parents. – Edrianne Jane Briol.
3. Focus on your work
Working is also one of a great way for self-improvement. You will know your priorities and it can help you to be more mature since you will be able to experience the hardship of the reality.
As a working student, you have to be careful about the things you do and what your priority is to finish first. Time management is one crucial skill that improves my work because it helps me to be able to work and study at the same time. In my experience, it's really hard to be a working student, but having time management skills helps me to be disciplined with time and what I need to do first. The thing that always comes to mind is that I should do all the things at school first before getting to work to avoid procrastination or failing. – James Christopher Bamba
4. Learn new things
If you want to improve yourself, you need to be continually picking up your new skills. By constantly trying to learn new things, you will know yourself more. You will see your hidden talents that you never thought you had.
5. Read a handbook
A life handbook is a personal guide that includes your aspirations, values, and concepts you've developed along the way. We frequently become mired in the daily grind and forget about the real-world ways in which we might achieve our goals. I wish to improve my capacity to reach my own potential by working on a tangible manifestation of my life's purpose. The first step to becoming a great leader in your life is possessing own guidebook. Many people lead aimless lives because they are unsure of what they want to achieve. You are forced to consider your life, consider your goals, and make plans to achieve them as you construct your handbook. Just as the Bible is the guidebook that reflects the teaching and faith of Christianity, your life handbook is your blueprint toward living your greatest possible life.
6. Learn from your mistakes
We all understand that accepting our mistakes and being willing to correct them is one of the most crucial steps toward improving ourselves. Nobody is perfect, so we all make mistakes. It's okay as long as we find a way to fix everything. Your perspective has a big impact on how you see your errors and, more crucially, how you respond to them. The phrase "analyze your mistake, what is the source of why it is happening so that it may be easily fixed and changed" always refers to a basic yet effective method for determining the root causes of issues that are either simple or fairly tough.
When I make a mistake, I admit it to myself so I know what I need to change. How can we get better if we can't admit our mistakes and won't make changes? – Ashley Mae Cabugnason
7. Believe in yourself
Don't compare other person to another person, because you don't know what that person are feeling and going through. Always believe in your ability, don't believe what others say because that's you, only you can say if you can do it or not and don't punish yourself just because you want to show that you can do what they are doing. More than that, always keep your heads up, process is still a process, don't rush things because someone else can do it.
There used to be people who were down on me and they didn't believe in my ability, they always said that she can't do it and they always compared me to other people, they always said that she is good, she is good, and I also lost faith in my ability But there is always one person who will believe in your ability, there is even someone who impressed me the most is what she said that ''you can do it don't listen to what others say believe in your ability, in yourself''. And that's when I realized that yes I am not them and don’t need to listen to them because they don't know anything about me and my abilities. I learned to love and believe in myself more. – Aira Divinagracia
8. Accept and embrace yourself
Accept and embrace yourself in order to improve yourself. Don’t change things that you’re already good at. Don’t change for other people’s validation. If there’s something you need to change that’s the bad mind-set or point of view. Don’t let others affect your feelings about yourself, you don’t need other people’s acceptance, what’s important is that you embrace yourself fully. For me, the first and most important thing that you need in order to improve is by accepting and embracing yourself. Improving yourself is not easy, it’s a process.
It all started with my insecurities, I had a lot of insecurities until now to be honest and before, I always try to change myself by following the society’s standards the “norms” like im a man i should speak and act masculine just for people’s acceptance but it felt wrong and I feel like im not improving because Im not being me. Im just adjusting myself just to fit in, until I realized, why fit in if you can be unique so I started to improve myself by accepting and embracing myself. I think that’s the first and the most important thing to do for you to be able to improve yourself. Don’t change things that you’re already good at. Don’t change for other people’s validation. If there’s something you need to change that’s the bad mindset or point of view.
Don’t let others affect your feelings about yourself, you don’t need other people’s acceptance, ACCEPTANCE FROM YOURSELF IS WHAT ONLY MATTERS. – Elijah Espejo
9. Step out of your comfort zone
When you look in the mirror every day, you could occasionally notice slight changes in yourself. It is very normal for the majority of us to feel some level of fear right now, which may prevent us from daring to take that action. We remain fixed in our comfort zone as a result. For a change, we should take a chance because it may present us with new learning chances. We must all be aware that this dread is a common emotion that we all experience. Bring out your bravest side and resist letting fear hold you back.
10. Set realistic goals
It's time to make achievable goals for yourself when you've decided which habits you wish to give up. If your expectations are too high, you run the risk of disappointing yourself and losing motivation to follow through with your self-improvement strategy. So, take a seat and consider your realistic short- and long-term goals. Create modest, doable steps to start working toward your overall goals after you have them set out. Realistic goals are those that you can actually accomplish given your abilities, timescale, and level of motivation. Yet, you won't be any closer to accomplishing them than simply deciding what they are. Even though what is reasonable for one person may not be realistic for another, you should still consider realistic goals to be reachable.
