Cind1004-Blog 5- Kalina Kaneva c3404528

This week we were able to finish filming all of the scenes for our film, in order to start putting everything together and start editing and adding audio.

Tanya, one of our team members and main actor, also finished the script we used for the film and I started refining the storyboard.

We also assigned tasks to everyone to ensure the work we divided equally and is done in time.

Script

Characters

Main character: Tan

OPENING

Shot opens on the main character, she’s lying on the couch in her pajamas- looking very greasy and exhausted. The Camera is in a birds eye view and slowly zooms in on her face as the monologue starts

Tan: How did I end up here? I can’t remember what life was like before this, walking or moving, being outside. I am the couch now, imprisoned. But How did it come to this?

Cue flash back scene.

In this scene our main character is visibly happy. She is walking along the footpath with her favorite cup in her hand. Walking towards her are 2 other people who subsequently bump into her- spilling her water. She turns towards them, the camera catches her looking visibly frustrated and annoyed

She walks into class and sits down, someone places a test down in front of her. Facedown. She takes a deep breath and turns it over, it says 0/100- you suck :( with a big F on it.

She walks into Maccas and orders a cheeseburger with no pickles but when it arrives there are pickles. She sighs, a single tear rolls down her cheek.

On a rainy cloudy day hopefully. Our main character walks along a sidewalk, a longshot. She’s dragging her legs and she looks exhausted hunched over

Cut to the next scene. Our main character walks over to a couch, and slumps down. A voice calls from somewhere

Audio: “HEY Can you get off the couch and help me with the dishes?/ can you help me carry this?”

The main character looks into the camera

Tan: “no.”

This cues the time lapse of events where she refuses to get off the couch.

COUCH SCENE

Scene 1

Main character is lying down on the couch. People's legs are shown as they walk by

You see cereal girl in the background carrying a bowl of cereal, Main character is still asleep. They notice her. It cuts to a scene of them stacking plastic cups/jenga on her head, and then walking away again with their cereal.

Scene 2 (with strobe lights)

There’s a party, it’s loud and there’s chatter in the background. Main character is still asleep on couch

Shot of 2 people coming and sitting on the couch- they’re talking amongst themselves

They drop something on her, laugh get up and leave

She wakes up notices the dropped object and then goes back to sleep

Scene 3

It’s dark, and the main character is huddled on the couch with a game controller (I can supply a wii controller), her face lit by the glow of the tv (maybe just using a lamp or some other light source? We don’t really have to have a light source). The audio should be from some game like flappy bird. But there are two silhouettes in the background screaming at each other

Parent 1: “GOD I CAN’T STAND YOU”

Parent 2: “THEN GET OUT”

Doors are slamming shut while you just hear the game music. Main character is unbothered- does not acknowledge the background and continues gaming.

MONOLOGUE SCENE

9. Main character is asleep on the couch, a parent figure comes up to her and gently shakes her awake

Parent Figure 1: “Hey, hey come on wake up”- in a caring tone of voice

Tan looks at her and yawns: “heeey I was sleeping”

Parent figure 1: “I know, you’ve been asleep for a whole day”

Tan: “Mom-

Parent figure 1: “No you listen to me, I don’t know what’s gotten into you but you can’t spend your whole day cooped up on a couch, not experiencing life. I know that bad things can happen, but by avoiding life you miss the good things too. Good and bad, they go hand in hand. Now, get up will you?”

Zoomed in Intense shot of Tan.

Tan: “no”.

Shot of parent figure 1 looking offended

END SCENE

10. Tan is on the couch again, playing games when her phone buzzes. She looks at it, it’s her uber eats order

She looks so happy, she gets up, and walks to the front door to get her food. The door shuts close behind her.

She turns back to go back inside the building but the door won't open. She stops, looks at it, and then aggressively tries the door handle again

Detailed Shot List

Establishing shot of the protagonist sitting on the couch looking at the camera whilst a voiceover plays

Several scenes of minor but unfortunate things happening to the character

Something spills onto their clothes as someone pushes past them etc.

Closeup of a bad grade

Lose at fortnite/mario kart

Order goes wrong in the drive thru, “they forgot my fries!”

Gets given orange juice with pulp in it

Running into a door or something

Back to the couch, background events begin to happen over a timelapse

Time lapse can include

Stacking cups on person's head while they sleep

Divorce :) /fight or argument while person plays a loud video game

Dance party, strobe lights

Timelapse stops and the protagonists’ mother/friend comes to deliver a motivational speech.

The character delivers their speech, the camera slowly zooming in on their face as dramatic music increases.

A few possible endings;

Decides to get up and get food or something and gets locked out, forced to leave the couch

Somebody comes in and solves one of their problems, they are like oh okay and get up off the couch and it ends abruptly there. *vine boom sound*

Doesn’t get off couch, dies (skeleton prop slay)
