Hi hi! Love your prompts! I'm writing a story where my characters are friends to enemies to friends again to lovers! Basically A didn't support B's dreams and they had a falling out. Do you hav e any dialogue prompts for the argument and the making up of it all?

Hi :)

Since both of those situations happen some time apart, I will give you first the argument dialogue and then the making up ones.

Falling out prompts

"You never supported me in the way I would expect a friend to support me!"

"I didn't think it would be such a big deal for you." "Of course, it's a big deal for me and I told you that over and over again!"

"You don't believe in me and I just can't live with that."

"I would want you to live your dreams, but I just don't think it's realistic." "A dream doesn't have to be realistic!"

"I would've never thought it would ever come to this, but I don't see us fixing this mess."

Making up prompts

"I should've supported you. No matter what."

"Fighting with you was horrible. I don't ever want to live life without you."

"I'm glad to see you living your dream. I'm sorry I ever doubted you."

"Nothing makes me more happy than being able to talk to you again. I missed this so much."

"It was stupid. I was being stupid. And I'm so sorry for that."

"Yes, you were stupid. But we should've talked more. Maybe we could've found a way to understand each other's sides better. I'm glad that the were able to get past that eventually."

Punctuating Dialogue

➸ “This is a sentence.”

➸ “This is a sentence with a dialogue tag at the end,” she said.

➸ “This,” he said, “is a sentence split by a dialogue tag.”

➸ “This is a sentence,” she said. “This is a new sentence. New sentences are capitalized.”

➸ “This is a sentence followed by an action.” He stood. “They are separate sentences because he did not speak by standing.”

➸ She said, “Use a comma to introduce dialogue. The quote is capitalized when the dialogue tag is at the beginning.”

➸ “Use a comma when a dialogue tag follows a quote,” he said.

“Unless there is a question mark?” she asked.

“Or an exclamation point!” he answered. “The dialogue tag still remains uncapitalized because it’s not truly the end of the sentence.”

➸ “Periods and commas should be inside closing quotations.”

➸ “Hey!” she shouted, “Sometimes exclamation points are inside quotations.”

However, if it’s not dialogue exclamation points can also be “outside”!

➸ “Does this apply to question marks too?” he asked.

If it’s not dialogue, can question marks be “outside”? (Yes, they can.)

➸ “This applies to dashes too. Inside quotations dashes typically express—“

“Interruption” — but there are situations dashes may be outside.

➸ “You’ll notice that exclamation marks, question marks, and dashes do not have a comma after them. Ellipses don’t have a comma after them either…” she said.

➸ “My teacher said, ‘Use single quotation marks when quoting within dialogue.’”

➸ “Use paragraph breaks to indicate a new speaker,” he said.

“The readers will know it’s someone else speaking.”

➸ “If it’s the same speaker but different paragraph, keep the closing quotation off.

“This shows it’s the same character continuing to speak.”

"Oh, look at the stars! Ursa Major… so beautiful!" "We're inside. Those are just ceiling lights."

"Please don't leave me!" "I'm just going to the toilette." "Can I come with you?"

"My arm is floppy. I'm like a puppet."

"Can you be my girlfriend?" "I already am." "Oh, lucky me!"

"Let’s go play baseball!" "Your shoulder is dislocated, maybe not right now."

"You look almost as pretty as this moon." "That's a street lamp." "And you're almost as pretty."

"Have you ever thought about penguins? I think we should think more about penguins."

"You have a stupid face and it's my favourite one to stare at."

"I will definitely remember this tomorrow! How could I ever forget?" *doesn't remember anything in the morning*

"Oh, I think we haven't met before." "We have been in a relationship for five years now."

"You should go, otherwise I'm doing something stupid. Like kissing you or falling asleep on the bathroom floor."

"Let's get you home." "Oh, mine or yours?" "Ours." "Oh, wow!"

"I'm totally, absolutely, not at all drunk at all. Like... at all."

"Why are you all laughing? That is not very nice. I haven't even told my joke yet."

Holy War Update Soon

Good news, everyone! I finally finished Chapter 86. It's been giving me trouble these past few months. It was a hard and long chapter, but I buckled down and managed to find a good rhythm. I'm feeling like I've gotten into a good productivity flow again. These next several chapters should be a lot easier for me to write, at the very least.

That being said, I still need to edit Part 3 of Chapter 86. I'll try to get a start on that today. I don't know if it'll be ready for tomorrow or not - we'll see. If I can't have the editing done by tomorrow, it'll either be at some point next week, or next Sunday at the very latest.
