Writing this on my birthday, since it’s the most likely day for you to see it.
I have a couple of your trinkets (Eye of neverwinter necklace, yes/no coin, wolf bracelet/ring, etc), message in the next week or so me if you’d like them back. After next week, it won’t really be feasible to send anything again, so yeah. Last chance.
Otherwise, have a good life, be happy. Later dear.

Session 1
Since we play thursdays and we’re two sessions in, I figured I should start properly keeping records before I forget things.
Session 1 started with the players as strangers, standing in front of a notice board in the town of Pleasant. There were several requests for aid, but the one that caught Neph’s eye was a search for townsfolk who had recently been abducted. As he stepped forward to examine the notice, he blocked the view of one fairly well dress Half orc. The half orc chided Neph for blocking his view, but they were both slightly dumbstruck when a half elven man ripped the page from the board and walked off.
The half orc’s attempts to retake the document failed when the other’s grip was stronger than his mage hand. Ultimately, all three went together to see the Marshal of the town for more information. They learned two people had been taken so far, a farmer and a seamstress, both who lived alone on the edge of town. The three agreed to the search, though Neph was disappointed that the incident had no ties to the disappearances that occurred during the previous war.
The three finally introduced themselves to each other. The half orc called himself Jorge while the half elf spoke only the word “Harken.” Since he said little else in their travel to the scene of the latest crime, they assumed that is the man’s name.
The seamstress was the more recent to disappear, so they began their search there. Jorge and Harken found evidence of a magical phenomenon known as Blight, while Neph helped himself to some easily overlooked preserved food (5 rations get!). Jorge took a bit of needle and thread, then Neph led the party into the bog, following the tracks of the Blight.
Unfortunately, tracking things through the bog is a rather difficult venture, so, after losing the trail, the three decided to set up camp to act as bait for the phenomenon. While they waited for sunset, Jorge returned to town to seek out further information and Neph and Harken foraged for food, finding a good number of berries and a rather ornery alligator.
Enjoying the delicious reptile meat, the three rested and waited, until they heard an odd singing as the sun set. Following the sound, they crept through the march, temporarily losing track of Harken when he snuck ahead without telling the others. Harkens returned caused a minor scuffle, as both Neph and Jorge reflexively struck out at him, though things did not escalate.
Harken had found a small boat tied to a pier and, in the distance, the party saw a chicken legged house standing in the deep part of the bog. Following the song, the three approached the house via the boat.
Harken asked to be the one to negotiate, heading up from the landing to knock on the door of the home accompanied by Jorge. Neph stayed further back and ignited a torch (as he was the only one who was unable to see once the sun set).
The three were greeted by a enchantingly beautiful woman, who Harken promptly punched in the face. The woman’s illusion broke, revealing a decrepit hag. Chaos ensued, as Neph tossed the torch to ready his spear, Jorge did something, and then Harken had his heart ripped from his chest (hag nat 20s are scary, 26 damage against 9 hp). The hag calmed down after killing Harken, then asked why they party assaulted her. Things were explained, and the hag used a WISH SPELL to resurrect Harken. The party, being unable to refuse, had blood taken by the hag and were given pointers in the right direction for the kidnapping, while being told they would need to compensate for the scroll of Wish along with another favor later on.
Jorge considered double crossing the hag, but Neph mentioned she would probably see through his forgeries and disembowel the half orc, so that line of thinking was quashed. The three returned to camp to rest for the night.

Binding Mark: Rolled 1 One of your eyes looks the same as one of your patron's eyes. (Missed this one at character creation, added now) Became a Warlock Because: Rolled 2 I was examining a strange tome I found in an abandoned library when the entity that would become my patron appeared before me.

Flaw: Rolled 6 I have trouble trusting my allies (which is totally understandable with a half orc and a murderous hobo monk XD )

The Maid of Misfortune is given to random behavior and bouts of extreme jealousy with regards to her sister, demanding equal veneration (or at least lip service) to that given to Tymora (Goddess of Luck). Although the thought of Beshaba actually appearing is enough to make most folk tremble, she is always invited and welcomed formally in speeches or ceremonies of formal functions (such as marriages and coronations), contests of sport or martial prowess, or at the naming of children. If not invited, she may take offense and wreak endless misfortune upon those involved.
Character Description: Neph Height: 5'9" Weight: 201 lbs Eyes: Originally both green, now one green and one white from Patron Hair: Black, medium length (4-5 inches), unkempt but fairly straight Skin: Medium tan (Fitzpatrick Scale Type 3) Build: Average? (I have no idea how to describe builds)
Nephia Height: 6'1" Weight: 186 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: White, long, straight Skin: Medium tan (Fitzpatrick Scale Type 3) Build: Thin
Written backstory: Neph was born to Nephia in Shadowspear Village, a rural village where Nephia acted as the village leader and lead priest. The villagers of Shadowspear worshipped Beshaba as a matter of course (no other options), though not in front of outsiders. When Neph show little aptitude for arcane or religious study, his mother had him learn polearms, mostly to burn off childish energy. He never met his father, but didn't really care. He was told of his father's identity, but not his name. Ultimately, he decided someone who would leave his mother wasn't worth seeking. He got along well with the other children of the village and enjoyed his childhood greatly. Once he reached adulthood, his mother began sending him with the villagers to trade with the nearest city, so that he could see a bit more of the world and gain experience with people. It was during one of these trips that his village was attacked, leaving nothing behind of it but ashes and questions. Searching the village, he found no sign of his mother or most of the villagers, but did discover a hidden library under their house. Within the library, he found his mother's sacred tome and met with an Avatar of Beshaba. For reasons unknown to him, she offered a pact that would allow him to use a small portion of her power in exchange for his unending service. Neph agreed to the pact and began his journey to find his mother and murder whoever attacked the village.
Character questions / motivations: 1) Where is Nephia? 2) Where are the other villagers? 3) Why would Beshaba form a pact with Neph? 4) Who destroyed the village? 5) Why did they destroy the village? 6) How can Neph become stronger to get revenge? 7) What has dear old dad been up to? (Low priority) 8) Magical equipment is high priority for Neph to acquire.

Making Neph
Neph as a concept is something I’ve wanted to do since I found Polearm Master in 5e. Originally a character based on my favorite fire emblem character Nephenee, he was going to be a halberdier fighter originally, but the hexblade came out with Xanather’s and my DM let Polearm Master to work with Spears.
The best part of this character was making his backstory though. I had conceptualized him as a Folk Hero commoner who got adventure thrust upon him. Then I discovered in XgtE had tables for rolling everything. If you ever don’t want to go with the normal “half elf with dead parents” setting for you adventurer, I highly recommend rolling it out. It can make things amazing.
Just for fun, this is the character originally referenced.
Still not completely comfortable playing non-male characters with strangers, but that’s more because of anxiety around strangers than the character’s gender. Backup character is an female Aasimar Barbarian Noble, so, if Neph gets hunted down for his slightly evil deeds, I’ll probably play her.

This months sees the return of the tree-peoples of Warhammer in their latest guise - Age of Sigmar’s Sylvaneth. I won’t lie, in Warhammer Fantasy dryads and their ilk were among my least favourite factions. I think their overhaul for Age of Sigmar has been great though. Sure, I’m biased - I’ve written a story about a Branchwych as part of the new releases - but when I was given their new background material to do research reading I became genuinely enthused. The lore is pretty neat, and I love the new miniatures. Ghyran endures.

When I get broken out of my mech, I have this habit of going ‘FOOL! YOU HAVE ONLY UNLEASHED MY TRUE FORM!!’ …Because I’m kinda a dork. And because as a released D.Va I tend to jump around and fire so damn erratically that it’s like… Well. A child on a Doritos and Mountain Dew diet. Sometimes I think I’m more hassle to the enemy team OUTSIDE of my mech…

I’m glad that I belong in a fandom where the phrase “He can be your waifu” instantly makes you think of an insane, balding, soot-covered man with a peg leg, hair that’s perpetually on fire, and a tire strapped to his back and everyone is perfectly okay with this.
You guys really make me proud sometimes.
