Jabu’s Tom Boy chic
Inspiration is one word I would use to elaborate on how Tomboy chic changed my perspective on certain things about design.Firstly her inspiration for her design is the time favourite 9o’s generation with a rather baggy outlook then what we see in today’s fashion with slick edges and finishes with a smooth comfortable drape. The collection has a certain allure about it, making it rather soft for the viewers.Tomboy chic is also influenced by numerous prominent musicians which are TLC, Aaliyah and Brandy. The theme of the collection was relaxed, playful with a twist of sophistication with Aaliyah’s song playing in the back for ambience as the models walk down the ramp one goes through a metaphoric time machine and the garments showcasing a different set of style. I would say that the collection had a romantic feel to it which was rather daunting for the viewer but rather very very interesting. The silhouettes of the collection were different with a dress that is slit, a crop top and a whole jumpsuit made from corduroy. The silhouettes all have a common factor of freedom with a bit of sassy, which shows garments which women would like to wear. The Colours throughout the collection where a series of lively colours of white, pink, beige and purple. The lighting allowed the audience to properly view the garments with the colour cool and calm with a contradicting touch sexy which makes them stand out. Different fabrics were being used in the collection with corduroy being the best being my personal best, with the entire jumpsuit being made from corduroy. The other designs were made of satin, chiffon and georgette which were ideal for the collection, as they brought a certain level of elegance as the fabric bring a certain theme to the collection. The overall texture of the collection is calm, smooth and breathable made for simple spring/summer wear. The texture of the design looks comfortable for the model as they were walking confidently with the drape being effortlessly smooth. The styling of the collection of the models we see common trait of them having a ponytail or hair simply pushed back away from the face. The make-up on the models was rather expressive with eyebrows and eye done with dark colours to bring emphasis to the look, as the face of the models and the clothes are opposites with harsh eyeshadow for emphasis, to end of with a classic red lip.The models were wearing glasses with transparent heels or the classic pink vans.

Interview with the Designer Jabulile Mlilo
Designer Jabulile Milo
The Blast from the past, if you were a 90’s/80’s babe or you were reaching the end of your adolescents this is something you would love. This collection showcases a style that the millennial wouldn’t understand as everything is baggie, oversized and colorful. The collection is different from what you would normally see due to the differentiation of colors and fabrics.
The reason for this collection is due to the designers love for 90’s hip/hop and R&B.Her inspiration mainly came from American singers, which are TLC and Aaliyah. The style they used and how they wore a certain type of clothing is being interpreted similarly in the collection.
I am a fan of the 90′s hip/hop and R&B so I just fell in love with her idea of the collection as I still listen to 90′s music and her fusing new age fashion with trends from 90′s is amazing. The fabrics being used in the design are unique which make her collection stand out, which is a beautiful thing.
The collection has a variety of clothing styles which were used in the 90’s.There is a dungaree, half slit jacket which only covers the top of the torso and a whole jumpsuit. The video below will showcase a whole interview with the designer about her journey and her collection:

African Jeweller
Johannesburg,28 May 2017,Was the day I attended and enjoyed the Maboneg street market and that is where I meet Mlu, an African jeweller from Soweto, who works with precious metals and rocks to make and develop his products. Mlu’s products are very fashionable and may be worn with anything for night attire and your casual wear. At first sight of the store you would notice a quiet young man standing next to a table set up with unique ornaments that seem to be made out of precious metal and gold I thought to myself, but the ornaments that I've later found out were women (earrings), were actually made out from cow horn with each cow a unique colour and pattern, making it truly price less knowing that not everyone might be wearing the same horn as you. The streets of Maboneng are where it's happening for young entrepreneurs, bloggers, actors, designers and social media influencers with the rich atmosphere with a youthful bliss and sparkle of night life vibrations. The market was full of fashion and arts ,with one of the words that Mdu said was“African ,Arts and crafts are a growing market, locally and internationally ” indeed is a growing sector in our country , with tourists from all over the world coming to places like Maboneng where they find extraordinary designs from people working at a street market, low prices hook in the tourists, and they buy. With the streets full of moving by standers kindly looking and observing the energy the town has to offer. In the images uploaded you can also see the jewellery made from cow. The jewellery and my outfit for that day went well.Which was a minimalistic look with a simple skinny jean and an oversized jersey from the 80’s.The ring and the chain were also inspired by the African crafts the ring has an outlined trace of Africa. The growing amount of young people interested in entrepreneurship is on the rise as an unprecedented amount of sales was actually owned by the young people. The introducing of fashion and entrepreneurship has been going together ever since textiles were being bought at a shop. There's an audio version of the interview, which is uploaded to the blog. “How long have you been in the industry” For 3 years now. How did you get to showcase at the Market ? Through some tarry, the guy who's worked at the workshop with me. What is your jewellery made out of ? Cow horn or depending on the price precious. Arts and craft in South Africa are growing the whole creative industry in south Africa is growing.

“I got money on my mind and my mind on my money”
It could be in my pocket, my wallet or the pants I was wearing yesterday, best believe Imma get to it.  It is here today and gone tomorrow. Money dictates your fashion, but never your style. Allow me to take you through the journey of Thato who has nothing but money on his mind, so let’s do this.
What do you do in the meantime while still saving for life’s luxuries, or still in school like me? That pair of pants can’t wait for next week or next month, so buy now or regret later.I’ll be posting about what is out there in terms of latest luxury wear and lifestyle items.
Motivation and inspiration feed our desire to be and do more,in our daily lives weather at home/school/work A little acknowledgment is needed for personal gain.
Basically you can see that I LOVE money. How luxury items that cost  an arm and leg affect my ambition to get there. So join me as we DREAM UP A STORM.But first let me leave you with a quote:
“I only like luxury fashion. You have to decide where you stand. I like well-made, authentic clothes, well-crafted tailoring. I also like the dream and fantasy of luxury, the exception and rarity of it. I have no interest at all in fast retail. It is ambiguous.”- Hedi Slimane
