~
Most of the time, Circe had a bright smile on her face, rarely seen without it and surprising most people. What she did for work obviously wasn’t for the faint of heart, usually putting herself into less than ideal situations to capture the perfect amount of evidence to help a client. But around Lysander, she often had a cool expression; as much as she liked the boy, she was still doing her best to figure him out, and this situation was no different. It just happened to come along with the fact that he was attempting to protect himself from something going awry in his apartment. “Most people don’t really like it when their friends from the other side inconvenience them like that, unfortunately. I once had a client who’s keys kept going missing all the time, and that was an annoyance in and of itself, so I can really only imagine.” The brunette released a soft sigh as she looked at Lysander, her eyebrows lifting slowly in an expression of disbelief. You mean to tell me, that you uprooted one of your floorboards, found this coin beneath it, and decided to keep it in you wallet?”
-
He’d seen plenty of odd things happen over the years, but usually it was in hotels, friends’ houses when he was young or places he didn’t usually sleep. It being his apartment this time was not bringing him any comfort. “That would bother me, but I lose my keys all the time either way,” he flashed a foolish smile and looked down as she questioned him. “Well, yeah I thought it was a cool looking coin. I didn’t see any harm in it, but I’m guessing that’s what you’re about to tell me,” he admitted, letting his nose scrunch up again. “Rookie mistake I take it?”

Her expression was serious as she listened, both arms moving to cross over her torso and her head cocking to the side. “The question may not be what kind of protection you need. I know you said that you keep finding things out of place or, as you just alluded to, wonky…but sometimes these actions aren’t meant in any harm.” The woman shifted once more, suddenly moving to her computer and flipping it open. “Have you moved anything around recently? Done any sort of change to the walls or the way the apartment was set up before you got there? Sometimes that stirs things up, because you’ve messed with their routine completely, so now they just want themselves to be made known.”
-
Lysander narrowed his eyes, giving some thought to what she was saying. It was hard not to take her seriously with the expression she wore pretty constantly, although his personality usually allowed him to make some sort of joke or funny comment. But this was something he did wonder about, as it wasn’t the afterlife he was experienced with. “It’s harmless, yeah, just didn’t appreciate all the food in my freezer melting,” he mentioned, looking upwards to try to think about what the disturbance could have been. “I suppose now that you’ve mentioned it I did rearrange a few things, also had to replace an old rickety floorboard,” he added. “Wait a bloody second,” he suddenly realized and pulled out his wallet, unfolding the secret flap that was supposed to hide large bills and pulling out a coin. He handed it to her. “Do you have any idea what that is? I found it under the floorboard when I replaced it.”

Jesus Christ this dude was definitely going to try all his options and it made her laugh because she knew it wasn’t going to happen but it was fun to play ping ball flirting with him; “I’m sure you like to hear a lot of things-…” rolling her eyes at the other as it wasn’t really helping her frustrations if anything it just heightened the original emotions, except now she was also frustrated at him - god knows why - as well as the computer; “Does it look like I procrastinated?” her sassy attitude coming out in times of stress and anxiety - not so much directed at him but more as a result of a build up she had been trying to keep within her.
“This Macbook is probably worth more then your entire belongings little man, so you better look after it” if she didn’t get this uploaded and she failed she was going to attack him for stuffing this up. Not that she could actually blame him because she should and could have had this submitted earlier but what she was really looking for here was someone to point fingers at; “Oh yeah? Well if you keep poking the bear, that bear might bite back-… she isn’t afraid of using the teeth that have been given to her you know”
-
He didn’t mind the girl’s sass, he was actually used to it by now. Over the course of their friendship his place had become sort of a respite for her when she needed to get away, to hang out and just exist. He knew of her privilege, and it didn’t bother him all that much when she used it. But as she made her comments he just gave her a look. “Want me to help or not?” he asked, only slightly snapping as it could sometimes irritate him when she got so insistent and unbending.
“Oh I doubt that, I have a lot of stuff y’know? What’s it, got gold flecks in the finish or something?” he asked with another heavy dose of sarcasm. As the machine began to boot up, he looked at the screen for signs that it was going to act up again. “I know how to handle bears,” he chuckled. “You just need to act bigger than them.”

“That’s still something” She smiled and felt her cheeks color a deeper red as she realized she had snorted. “I’m just a hopeless romantic, emphasis on hopeless.” She shrugged as well before raising a brow. I don’t think you’re that bad.” She shook her head and placed her hands on her hips when he stepped back against the wall once more. “Give me a little more credit”
Guess so, but it still seems rare,” he mused, his hand out from his crossed arms in a semi-open state for a moment before putting it back. “Oh, you’re not hopeless,” he added, shaking his head again, tempted to mess with her further but he thought better of it. “I could be way worse, believe me. S’got nothing to do with not giving you any credit. If you want me to prove it I definitely will,” he raised a brow and gave her almost an ultimatum.

summoningcirce:
~
Circe’s main purpose at the Boo-tique was to help those seeking guidance with the supernatural and the paranormal. Of course that didn’t stop her from doing other tasks in the store, but when she was able to hole up in her little corner, surrounded by camera equipment, laptops, and her various other things that brought her comfort. She liked having the reputation she did, liked that people came to her when they needed help with something that was out of their comfort zone, and she embraced whatever she could when it came to this stuff. Turning at the sound of her name, the brunette smiled over at Lysander, moving her hands away from what she’d been busying herself with. “Fancy seeing you here,” she teased, brows lifting. “What can I help with?”
-
The man wasn’t sure how to ask for what he needed, so for a moment he just looked at Circe with a questioning expression. “Well, my apartment’s been kind of wonkin’ out lately, I definitely heard a door slam in the middle of the night and I woke up to find my freezer wide open, which I haven’t opened in days,” he mentioned, a sort of half-explanation as he downplayed his own reaction, which was very jumpy when he discovered the fridge was amiss. “So, I wanted to ask what you might know of that might help with protection or whatever,” he said in a nonchalant tone, crossing his arms and continuing to fiddle with the tiny stone animals.

monkeyboness:
Griffin’s eyes glanced around as he spoke, “oh yeah no… sure I mean” he rambled off, sitting back and shifting his stuff towards one side of the table, freeing the space for the man. “Go ahead” he said with a small smile, “Not that busy- I can’t get it to boot up” he said with a huffed breath. “Some lady… has accumulated a ton of malware on this piece of crap” he closed the laptop, smacking its top. “Plus its like ten years old” he shrugged. “I don’t think there’s saving it honestly.”
“Appreciate it, mate,” he stated, shuffling into the booth across from him and setting his jacket in the corner next to him. He nodded his head at the waitress who looked over and saw him sit, and she promptly brought him over a menu. “Could I get an english breakfast tea if you’ve got it? With some honey, please,” he spoke to the waitress, and as she walked away he looked back to the other. “No, I doubt it can be saved, you’ve got a point there. Even if you do manage to clear out the malware, the processor’s old, it’ll never be the same as it was new,” he agreed, shaking his head. “This what you do for a living?” he asked with a smile.

jadenlapointe:

jaden wouldn’t say he was experienced at such . he thought that his skills would be a little better than what was presenting at the time , a little embarrassed that there were minimal orange blotches on his opponents and more so on the ground around them , but perhaps teaming up would be a better option . spotting lysander’s gestures the boy half hobbled over to where the guy stood , breathless , lifting his gun to the sky so he didn’t discharge a shot into the ground . “ what’s the plan , sarg ?? “ jaden joked as he adjusted the goggles that indented a little too deep into the sides of his head for it to be comfortable , gazing out onto the field where kicked up dust swirled and danced in a way that his view was obstructed . he didn’t understand how actual soldiers did it , but he did know this – next time he’d pick laser tag .
-
It wasn’t exactly something he did all of the time, most of the time his quick movements were to get away from an animal that was likely about to charge at him if he moved too quickly. He had to admit, this was really good practice. As Jaden reached his location he just smirked over at him. “We flank the sides and wait them out, there’s a few good positions near the edges,” he stated, pointing methodically at each side of the course they were on. “We can either be on one side together or split up, up to you my man,” he held out his hand for the other to grab in solidarity, and a deal of sorts. “Can’t have you marrying the love of your life without winning a match first,” he stated with a wide smile.

Caught off guard by his accent, Lacey let out a soft giggle, and took a half step back so she could point to the book she wanted. “That one, if you don’t mind? I haven’t seen any of those rolling step stool things, and last time I tried climbing on the shelves, the librarian threatened to kick me out.” it was a joke, mostly, and she eyed him curiously. “You’re not from here - the States, I mean.”
“Sure thing,” he smiled, reaching up to grab the one she pointed to. He almost had to stand on tip-toes, which spoke to just how high up it was. He examined the spine. “What is this?” he asked out of curiosity, just to see if his level of intellectualism matched hers. Then he heard her comment and tilted his head. “No, I figured that was clear. I’m not from here at all, but it’s home,” he stated with a slight smile.

His accent was something that Minnie liked to hear, it was different and unique and definitely refreshing from all the accents that were around time at the moment; “Please do not do that either, you are an Australian and you will stay that way” she mused as she was being playful and joking but at the same time grateful for his capabilities to calm her down even though she was having a shit time with her ‘lappy’ as he would put it.
“Listen-.. all I want is for that piece of shit to send my document so I’m not late for the deadline, I don’t care what you have to do, just get it to send” she had no idea if it auto saved to be honest, for the price she paid for it, it should do it automatically; “Do you know how much I paid for that thing? That fan should clean itself” she knew it didn’t but she was frustrated and was taking it out on an inanimate object.
-
“That’s what I like to hear,” he smirked over at her as he continued to fiddle around with the computer now in front of him. “Well when’s the deadline? Did you procrastinate?” he asked, peering up from the device to give her a questioning and suspicious expression. He assumed at that point that if he rebooted and the information was lost, there was no way to prevent that at this point, the thing was already entirely frozen. So he held down the power button and there was a little ‘pop’ noise as it shut down. “Let’s hope it’s smarter than I think it is. Cross your fingers,” he advised, tilting his head and staring at the screen and waiting for it to turn back on. “You’re cute when you’re frustrated.”

“I mean….I don’t know” She shrugged a little, chewing on the inside of her cheek. “I want to believe in it…but you’re right, its probably just wishful thinking on my part and just a thing in books and movies” She laughed softly before her eyes widened a little when he moved closer to her than she expected. Looking up at him she snorted in an unladylike manor before shaking her head. “I can tolerate you just fine, you’re not that bad” She smirked a little despite the rosy color flooding her cheeks
“I guess you never know, I might be wrong but I’ve never seen it firsthand apart from my mate and his girl,” he stated with a shrug, letting out a chuckle at her snort. It was very adorable in his mind. He pulled one shoulder up in a half-shrug again. “Maybe not that bad, but I’m still pretty bad,” he added, confident that as much as he appreciated her as a human being, he was far too forward and unapologetic for this soft and intelligent woman. “Promise I won’t try to set you up with anyone again,” he added as a reassurance, backing off now and to his original position against the wall.
