This photograph depicts a “witch flute” circa 1850. It is fashioned from a bone and a rat’s leg. It is believed to be inscribed with spells which would be used to call witches together on the sabbath. It is currently housed at Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp, Belgium.

On the night of 21 January, 1962, a fire engulfed a home at 510 Sarah St,   Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; Edward Maps, his wife, Christine, and their 4-month-old-daughter, Julia Louise, lived in the home. When fire fighters arrived, they discovered the body of Christine. She had been brutally bludgeoned with a heavy object and was unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital but died the following day. Their daughter was discovered under a pile of blankets. She had died due to smoke inhalation. Edward was nowhere to be found.
Due to the blunt force trauma of Christine, it was evident that the fire had been an afterthought in an attempt to conceal the murder. Somebody had turned the oven on and had left it’s door open so that gas would pump throughout the house. An investigation revealed that somebody had then set numerous small fires in multiple rooms. Edward was immediately the prime suspect but his wallet, ID, and car, were left at the home, which baffled investigators. According to his friend, Henry Evans, Edward had called him a few days after the fire and told him he couldn’t go to the police because he had things to do. Another woman, who was never identified, claimed he called her and told her, “You’re next.”
Multiple massive manhunts ensued and Edward was even featured on the FBI’s Most Wanted List on numerous occasions. Authorities received many phone calls from concerned citizens believing they saw somebody who looked similar to him, ranging in places from the Bahamas to England, over the years. In 1966, flowers were left on the graves of Christine and Julie Louise on their wedding anniversary but it was never discovered who had left them there; many speculated it was Edward. Regardless of the ever growing reports of sightings, in 1971, Edward was declared legally dead; what became of him still remains an enigma.

A mourning ring is a ring which is worn in memory of somebody who has passed away. The stones mounted on the rings are typically black. Sometimes hair of the deceased would be incorporated into the ring.
The photographs above show some Victorian and Georgian mourning rings.

On the 30th of December, 2016, 12-year-old Katelyn Nicole Davis from Cedartown, Georgia, hanged herself in her garden. The tormented young girl live streamed the heartbreaking event. After the footage went viral, police were powerless to take it down.
In the first half of the 42 minute video, Katelyn told the camera that she had been sexually abused by a family member. After saying her goodbyes, she kicks the bucket from underneath her feet. The footage doesn’t end when her life ends, however. It continues for another 20 minutes and at the end, a woman shouts her name off camera. By the time police finally arrived, it was much too late. One wonders why nobody watching the video contacted police immediately.
Just days before ending her life, Katelyn detailed the abuse she had suffered on her YouTube where she went by the name “ITZ DOLLY!!!” She told her viewers that she had been beaten with a studded belt and that she had been sexually abused. In one video, she reports that she was neglected by her father and was physically and sexually abused by her stepfather. She gets into an argument with her mother in one video who just shrugs everything she says off. Her mother would verbally) abuse her daughter on camera and threaten to “whip her ass.” She once mentioned that her stepfather even encouraged her to commit suicide: “He told me I should go hang myself because I was worthless.” She often spoke about being bullied at school and was a victim of catfishing.
To say she lived a hard life is an understatement.
Katelyn did, however, post other videos. She was an active YouTuber and would offer an insight into her life. She sometimes sang on the camera and cracked jokes. She appeared to be the main carer for her siblings; in one video she warns them not to “wake up” their mother. In some videos, she tries to reach out to other kids with depression who may have been feeling like she felt. In a way, it seemed as though she was looking for somebody to relate to, somebody that could understand how she felt. She posted videos urging people not to make fun of others and showed that she had a deep compassion for others.
Her videos show that she had cried out for help but nobody listened. They show a compassionate and intelligent young girl that would have excelled in life if just given the chance.

Susan Margaret Long was born and lived with both her parents in Aylsham, Norfolk.
At about 5.15am on the 11 March 1970, Susan’s body was found by a milkman approximately 1 ½ miles from Aylsham Market Place on the Burgh Road.  She had been sexually assaulted and strangled.
Susan was 18 and employed as a clerk at Norwich Union in Norwich. She had a boyfriend who also lived in the city. She would therefore regularly travel into Norwich by bus for work and to see him.
On the evening of 10 March 1970 she went with her boyfriend to the Gala Dance Hall in Norwich. She left at about 10.25pm to catch the bus back to Aylsham. The bus arrived in Aylsham Market Place at 11.10pm.  Other passengers confirmed that Susan had got off the bus.
It is believed that Susan was driven to where her body was found but officers do not know if she went voluntarily or was abducted. However, it is generally believed she would not accept a lift from strangers.
A full scale murder enquiry was launched, led by New Scotland Yard.
Following forensic recovery of semen left at the scene, it was established that the offender was from a rare blood group and blood samples were taken from men living in the Aylsham area. Another significant line of enquiry was linked to car paint flakes found on Susan’s clothing which showed that the paint had originally been pompadour blue and then been re sprayed metallic maroon. These lines of enquiry did not reveal the offender

16 years in prison, was released 2 years early for good behaviour. It is not known where he is currently.
M.O: He would go from village market to village market looking for his victims. Once he found one he would follow her for around 3 days before eventually luring her away by promising gifts. He would make them stay with him through the night and then when the sun rose the following morning he would rape and strangle them to death. He said that he would only kill them at sunrise so he could see their face as they died. Sometimes he would put 3 or 4 bodies in one grave and talk to them as though they were alive.
What created the Killer: He was abused his whole childhood. His mother said she caught him having sex with his own sister when he was quite young. An older man promised to help him however proceeded to rape him and during his first imprisonment he was gang raped by 4 men, he killed 3 of the 4 attackers afterwards. He possibly wanted to project the trauma and fear he felt during these moments onto his victims in his future crimes.
Quote
“I lost my innocence at age eight, so I decided to do the same to as many young girls as I could.”- Pedro Lopez

Romeo and Juliet
On the 10th of February 2013, Robert Tilghman Kronsberg (30) murdered his 25-year-old girlfriend Tasha Lucia by strangling, stabbing her multiple times and bludgeoning her head with a hammer. After the killing, Robert tried to commit suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills, but failed. He then made another attempt at killing himself, this time slitting his wrists - but again, failed to succeed. Concerned co-workers of Tasha visited her apartment later that day and were shocked to discover her dead body, which still had a knife protuding from her chest. Robert was found in the apartments’ bedroom and got arrested soon after. He was sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder.
In 2014, Robert appeared in an episode of Lockup: Charleston and showed off his tattoos, one of them being the quote ‘‘Tempt Not a Desperate Man…’’ from Romeo and Juliet. An awkward silence followed, as to which Robert started laughing and simply said: ‘‘I know’’.
Robert Kronsberg was found dead in his cell on the 6th of December 2017 in an apparent suicide. He was 35 years old.

District Attorney Frank Tucker about Ted Bundy.
Tumblr media
February/24/1977
Ted wrote a letter to Ann on February 24 in where he quoted an interview that Frank Tucker gave about him.
Ted quoted from an Interview D.A. Tucker had given about him.
“He (Ted) is the most cocky person I have ever Faced. He tells his lawyer what to do. He arrives carrying armloads of books, as if he were an attorney himself. He sends notes to the judge and calls him at night. He refuses to talk to me or any other prosecutor.”
“Flattery will get him nowhere. His story touches my heart but someone should tell him I didn’t ask to come to Colorado. Imagine, the nerve of me telling my attorneys what to do! Never called a judge at night in my life.”
From “The Stranger Beside Me” by Ann Rule.
