the influence of light and dark, part one: on night-blooming flowers, kyouka and kouyou

a concept that we frequently see discussed in bsd would be the “light” and “dark”, or the day and night. it seems to be representative of morality, and is most often applied to the three major organisations of bsd’s yokohama. the significance of their complementary relationship forms the basis of the tripartite framework explained in cannibalism, but their strife features most prominently and on a personal level in the guild war. the three-way conflict and introduction of kyouka as a major supporting character - with her arc underpinning the finale - give atsushi and us as readers/watchers further insight into the mentality and “darkness” of the pm.

HEAR ME OUT. lance x abigail. could be platonic or romantic, i don’t really care —- JUST THEM. why aren’t people talking about them more holy shit —-

i mean, lance is at the very least familiar with rasmodius ( i’ve yet to really understand the depths of their relationship with each other bc hah. i’m a bit preoccupied with wifing lance up rn to read up properly ) and abi is theorized to be razzy’s daughter, so, you know, it’s. there’s a link. THEIR FRIENDSHIP WOULD BE ICONIC.

haven’t thought up the specifics of how they’d meet but oh dear you fuckin’ bet that abi would be enamoured by lance to some degree once they do —- i mean look at him?? he’s hot AND he slays monsters for a living. once their friendship develops i totally see them having a potential mentor-student dynamic, especially given abi’s curiosity and interest in monsters and adventuring; i’m pretty sure that lance would, after a while, give her a chance. ( turns out having wizard in your bloodline gives you an automatic genetic buff, don’t ask me how; i don’t make the rules )

obv she doesn’t immediately start training under lance, with him being an important guy and all, but i feel like he’d challenge her to a spar maybe once or twice a year, just to keep her on her toes —- and abi appreciates it greatly. i feel like if given the chance, lance would be one of the few people who see abi for who she truly is, and perceives her in the way that she wants to be perceived, and to some extent; has the potential to see her as an equal.

i need sleep so bad and i’m sure i mischaracterized someone in this post so im gonna need the SVE community to help me flesh this pairing out a bit more bc holy smokes these two are my eureka moment im so sad /pos
