It's looking very promising for longi litters this summer. I did a little outcrossing with my lines this year to help add variety.

This is so cool! A new species of boa was discovered, Boa atlantica. Also great to see Argentines were elevated to species status.

This kid is spectacular. I've been waiting 9 years to see Seabreeze grandbabies, and they're finally here. With any luck they'll have their first sheds by next weekend so I can give them a proper photoshoot.

I am moving out this lovely OT hypo motley girl. She is 66% poss het super stripe and 50% poss het VPI T+.
She has a tail tip kink - it's not genetic, it is developmental.

When do you start feeding them? I got a Boa constrictor about a week ago and she's 1,5 weeks old now (born on valentines day). I got her when she wasn't even a week old and the breeder told me to start feeding in about a week (so in a few days). On the internet I've read they shed about two weeks after being born and that you should start feeding them after their first shed. Could you tell me what would be best to do? (I never expected to get her so soon, i thought I'd have more time to read)
Breeders should not be selling just born, non-started babies, that's a huge no-go. Honestly shocked to hear anyone is doing that.
I offer food after first shed, which happens around 10-14 days after birth. You can start them on live fuzzies or wait them out and try f/t. I typically offer new babies f/t (warmed to body temp) to see who'll take it. If you go that route all the way, just understand they may refuse for some time. As long as they're not losing weight, it's OK.
If you start with live, the majority will readily switch to f/t within a few meals.

Sibs from last year's surprise mot litter.
First pic is a mot, OT hypo mot, OT hypo harly (?) mot, all possible double het VPI T+ and super stripe.
Second is an OT hypo potential mystery mot poss super stripe, next to an OT hypo super stripe (I think), both poss het VPI T+.
Happy to say it looks like my unrelated VPI T+ motley girl is gravid by the OT hypo super stripe I produced in '19. Very curious to see what 100% hets look like in comparison.

The OT hypo aby poss het super stripe kids are doing really well. Growing very slowly but starting to get some size now. The first kid is a male, I think 1-2 years more and he'll be ready to go to my visual female SS.

Two of the kids from March's mystery mot litter (OT hypo harlequin het super stripe x DH T+ super stripe. The DH turned out to be a motley despite no visual motley traits).
The top offspring maaay be a visual super stripe possible motley. I keep wanting to label it a het or poss het SS but I think it's also a mystery mot like the sire and if so, that complicates things. I won't know for sure until I prove it out.
The bottom I think is an OT hypo harlequin motley het super stripe. The possible visual SS sibling is in shed, so I don't have an updated comparison photo there.
With the SS project as a whole, I'm reluctant to label things as visual super stripe UNLESS classic tri-striping is happening with no jungle involved and there's no ambiguity in the parent pairing. These two things seem to be the biggest issues with this project (not knowing if one or both parents is het or visual, and thus not knowing if offspring are het or visual, etc. And adding jungle, which accentuates striping and can cause hets to look like visual SS).
There's a lot of legwork yet to be done as far as how SS interacts with other pattern altering genes. Hoping to discover a little more this year, wish me luck.
