I’m rewatching seasons 1-4 of Haven and I will literally never understand why so few people ship Duke x Audrey over Nathan x Audrey. It is shown time and time again that Duke knows her better, respects her more, will drop everything for her time and time again, honors her choices even when they aren’t the ones he’d like her to make, and understands her far better than Nathan. They violate each other’s trust but always come back together and so much of their character development is intertwined. Even their regular “banter” scenes have more chemistry than her and Nathan’s romantic ones.

I mean I know it won’t ever happen, and I adore Nathan almost as much as I do Duke and Audrey, but I will be Daudrey trash until I die.

Edit: I apologize for putting this in the wrong tags. Honestly I wasn’t thinking. Hating on Nathan and/or Naudrey wasn’t what I wanted to do at all. I literally love Nathan, as I said above, and I do ship Naudrey. I never said I didn’t. The only thing I wanted to point out with this post was that I never understood why more people never shipped them.

Just... I am still angry as well. So very angry about the treatment of Audrey Parker's character at the end of Haven. And I'm glad every time I see I'm not alone in that feeling.

and i’m probably going to write something at some point about how part of the problem with paige, on top of the audrey sacrificing her identity thing, ISN’T that she’s “the scared of guns single mom” thing, because there’s nothing inherently wrong with being a scared of guns single mom, but how a) that’s such the antithesis of audrey’s personality i’m kind of insulted, b) i know that theoretically there’s probably a lot more to paige than that but THAT’S THE POINT, that’s all they chose to show us of paige in those four minutes we got of her, those were the characteristics they thought were most important, and c) the whole thing just reeked of her being gift-wrapped up for nathan, as if his happy ending was more important than hers, and they get to ride off into the sunset together at the expense of audrey’s identity, when, hello, on top of that just being gross, that is not who nathan is at all, that is not what nathan wants, we literally just established that, come on. 

and what even was that, i mean, is nathan going to tell paige? “by the way that’s my baby back there and you’re the woman i love even though you have no idea who i am”? what kind of memories does paige have? does nathan just lie to her and, what, wait for her to fall in love with him? ewwwwwwwwwww. ew ew ew. does he expect the whole town to lie to her? i don’t think so. but then what? where do they go from here? and what about james? does he dream of his former life? his family who raised him and loved him the first go around, all of the life experiences who shaped who he was? and is paige immortal? does she have the longevity of mara and the other worlders? are the memories of her previous lives lurking under the surface? is mara lurking under the surface? and these are all honestly interesting questions but part of the problem is i don’t think the show writers actually considered them, at all. 

and i mean there were a lot of implications there about the extent of paige’s personality and being and how much she was audrey and if audrey could come back and what not, but that’s all they were. implications. we can write fix-it fic til the day is done about who paige is really and how audrey could emerge and the balance between the two but that’s fix-it. that’s not what they gave us. which is just… such a disappointing note to end on.

…anway this was supposed to just be commiseration to say I’M SORRY I’M WITH YOU I GET IT THIS SUCKS but uh, i got mad again.

THANK YOU. This explains so much. I was confused this past two years about the show I used to rewatch every weekend and anticipate eagerly suddenly turned into a chore I had to go through. Now on to find out what the writers for the first 3 seasons have been doing after they stopped writing as much for Haven.

I don’t know why it never occurred to me to look up the writers for Haven episodes before, but now that I have, I do understand why I fell out of love with the show in season 5, after seesawing a bit in season 4.

He possesed Dave in the 1980s back in 5.20 for a moment when the thinnies went open in the beach but then he got sucked inside the void again.

Yeah, that confused me for a moment, because I kind of misunderstood why Dave was being sucked into the void. I thought Croatoan could only manipulate Dave into it when he possessed him. Clearly, I was wrong, lol. Thanks for answering!

This makes perfect sense now, thanks! I feel like the mythology got so confusing this season that I'm no longer enjoying the show properly and get stuck at minor details like this. You're the best!

So let me get this straight: we got a confirmation that Croatoan hitched a ride from the void within Dave back in that cave, when they brought Mara back, right? So how the hell did Croatoan control Dave years ago on the beach when he killed the Colorado Kid? Is this a massive plothole, or am I missing something?
