When you look at me, what do you see? A woman? A black woman? A lesbian? Good. 'Cause I'm all of those things. And I don't expect you to love me. I don't even ask you to like me. All I ask is that when you look at me, see me. See me the way I see you, as a proud member of this department. One of the rare few that chooses to spend their lives in service of those who are hurt and those who need to be saved. And one other thing. If any of you have a problem with me being here, I suggest you ask for a transfer. 'Cause I'm not going anywhere.
Hundreds of Jewish anti-war demonstrators have been arrested during a Passover seder that doubled as a protest in New York, as they shut down a major thoroughfare to pray for a ceasefire and urge the Senate majority leader, Chuck Schumer, to end US military aid to Israel.
The 300 or so arrests took place on Tuesday night at Grand Army Plaza, on the doorstep of Schumer’s Brooklyn residence, where thousands of mostly Jewish New Yorkers gathered for the seder, a ritual that marked the second night of the holiday celebrated as a festival of freedom by Jews worldwide.
The seder came just before the US Senate resoundingly passed a military package that includes $26bn for Israel.

You're coming with me. The four of you. Your life isn't going to be
what you thought. You've lived too long in these mountains, pretending that what happens in the rest of the world won't affect you.

I feel like the people that make it here, it's because they... there's a part of themselves that they hold on to. Last night, I feel like I saw that piece of her start to slip away. Then it has to be you, okay? You have to be that piece of her that this place can't take away. That's how we get through this.
