Starting up a Picrew tag game… you, but four years ago versus now!
The purpose is to tag at least five to 15 users that you are friends with, and to create a tag chain of our character development!
————
Me, four years ago: a middle school student who was a little TOO obsessed with Uncle Grandpa; super long hair that was unfortunately cut short
Me, right now: letting my hair grow out; figuring my own identity out and making cool friends; hyper-fixated on the Switch; big glasses and in high school AP classes
————
I’ll like to tag:
@femalesonicexe2, @thelittlepetfan, @komorumono, @redkitty50, @cockyroaches, @noroalia, @maries-universe, @jiosephfan63, @pizzasteveofficial, @eggnogg1112, @samstarium, @cloudtopcruise, @jawz-breaker, @cuddleslover1738, @wibblywobblyyy, @sweetlovelygirl

10 minutes remaining
10 minutes remaining
A global alert goes out. All it says is "You have 10 minutes remaining. Use it wisely". No one understood what it meant, so they ignored it at first. People continued what they were doing prior to this alert.
And then the second alert went out.
9 minutes remaining
"9 minutes remaining. This is not a drill. Call your loved ones".  Around half of the population listened this time, so they grabbed their phones, and called their loved ones. The calls were filled with confusion mixed with fear. After a few seconds, people noticed the color start to fade out of everything. The sky was no longer blue. The leaves were no longer green. Everything was a muted grey.
One minute has passed. Everyone got an alert.
8 minutes remaining
There was no one who ignored the alert this time. Everyone was either hugging their loved ones, or calling them. The power turned off everywhere. There were no lights. The only things producing light were cellphones, which were held against the ears of many.
Another alert went off.
7 minutes remaining
At this moment, people realized they couldn't feel their family members in their arms, let alone anything. They couldn't feel the floor beneath them. They couldn't feel the shirt tag scratching at their backs. Birds were flying in rapid formations outside. Dogs were howling endlessly.
The next alert was sent out.
6 minutes remaining
Everyone heard a beep. All the phones died, with their screens resting at black. They would not be turned on again. People held their family members and pets in their arms, even though it didn't feel like it. Everyone was in a panic. Fires burned. Windows were broken.
Another alert was sent. But no one received it.
5 minutes remaining
A women started to scream, but no one heard it. No one could hear anything. The birds fell silent. The dogs stopped howling. People were scared to even blink, in fear that in that quick second, they would lose someone.
There was no alert.
4 minutes remaining
The world shook. Trees started to fall. Buildings started to crumble. People rushed outside, staying close to one another. The tremors only lasted a few seconds. Afterwards, the world grew still. No one dared to move, scared that even with one small step, the world would break.
No one knew how much time was left.
...
People held each other in their arms in pure silence, not knowing what else to do now. There was not a single dry eye anywhere. No one, however,  noticed that the sun was no longer in the sky. It was still giving off light, but it was nowhere to be seen.
...
Along with hearing and feeling, everyone lost their sight. People screamed one more. They desperately tried to grasp anything, or to find their families. No one could. It felt like they were floating in an empty void. No one could feel the ground, or their clothes, or even the people they are brushing up against.
...
For the remaining minute, people screamed. They screamed, and reached out, and of course, they found nothing. For the last minute, people couldn't tell if they were dead or not.  As the final seconds ticked down, everyone could feel themselves growing tired. Some tried to fight it, while others welcomed it, but no one could resist it completely. Everyone grew more and more tired until

could you explain the post about shoelaces and presidents? it would be greatly appreciated thank you
Sure! Do you mean this post?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, it started in a post in 2012 (or earlier, I don’t know the exact date). As the Urban Dictionary entry explains, you would say “I like your shoelaces” in public as a sort of secret code if you suspect there’s another Tumblr user there. And if there is another Tumblr user, they would reply “Thanks, I stole them from the president” to let you know they understood the message and are, in fact, a Tumblr user.
I don’t think people do this anymore, and if they ever did, it probably wasn’t a very common thing to do. Maybe they did back in 2012 when the post was recent and Tumblr wasn’t as popular as it is now.
I also don’t think there’s any deeper meaning to the phrases. “I like your shoelaces” seems like a pretty common and nice thing to say, and if it turns out the person you thought was a Tumblr user doesn’t recognise the ‘secret message’, nothing would happen. But then “Thanks, I stole them from the president” seems weird and specific enough that you would know they understood the ‘secret message’, unlike if they just replied “Thank you”.
Then other posts appeared making references to the shoelaces and president posts:

Here’s a daily dose of positivity. Because I think everyone on here could really use it....
Eat today. It doesn’t matter what or how little or how much. You deserve it.
Drink water.
Remember that you’re loved.
Remember that things can always get better.
Remember that today doesn’t have to define tomorrow.
If I can’t take my own advice. I only pray someone can. 😂🧡
