one thing i love about the movie 'but im a cheerleader' is that once megan realizes that shes gay she doesn't just all of a sudden hate cheerleading

its SO refreshing to see

everyone is telling megan to be herself the entire movie but she already pretty much WAS being herself. now she just kisses girls. she still loves cheerleading, she didn't give in to drinking alcohol or sensually dancing with people at bars, she hasn't changed anything about herself. she just unlocked something new. and i love that. just because you are gay doesn't mean you have to be apart of the stereotypes. and you dont have to change yourself to be "more gay" thats so stupid.

as someone who is queer, was a cheerleader and loved it, and doesn't fit into gay stereotypes, i really love seeing storylines like this.
