I have a similar theory on this out here.
It’s not hard to believe, pharmaceuticals in this world are basically the equivalent of magical brews. In Chapter 40, we even see Bond help Twilight steal some truth serums (which, by the way, don’t exist in the real world) from Born Industries, who were involved in Project Apple.
So yeah, pharmaceuticals are definitely extracting chemicals from that flower to make bioweapons.
Something that’s been rattling around in my brain is that I wonder if Shopkeeper’s aware of the Witch’s Crib flower that Damian finds or its properties.

Based on this tweet on the plant and the hint that it might connect to Anya’s telepathy, I have a theory that Shopkeeper’s suspicion of Loid having interest in Desmond and his party more stems from intel he’s received in terms of Desmond being connected to Project Apple and possibly the use of Witch’s Crib being used for experimentation.

With Melinda revealing that she believes Donavan can read minds leads me to think that possibly he’s the first successful test subject of harnessing the flower’s abilities. With other subsequent subjects coming after. (Anya and her biological mother)

This panel also sticks out to me more than just being some throw away line, because Desmond buying a pharmaceutical company should at least raise a red flag for Twilight.
To me, I think Desmond is now trying to use pharmaceuticals to distribute the properties of the Witch’s Crib to make human weapons. Which might put Desmond on Shopkeeper’s radar.

I know this is me probably trying to make something out of nothing, but hopefully we get something with this upcoming arc.

The Hidden Link Between Anya’s Powers and the Miteran Empire’s Lost Secrets
In Spy x Family Chapter 104, we are introduced to the ancient Miteran Empire and a mysterious giant flower called Gesshokuran ("Lunar Eclipse Orchid"). During this chapter, it's also said that society experienced a "treasure hunting boom," becoming obsessed with uncovering the "lost secrets of antiquity." I propose that the true "lost secret" wasn’t material wealth, but the Gesshokuran itself, a flower capable of granting supernatural powers.
The symbolism around the flower is crucial. Anya loses her telepathy during a lunar eclipse, which can’t be a coincidence. It strongly suggests that her powers are directly tied to the Gesshokuran. This flower may be the original source of supernatural abilities in the Spy x Family world. It’s worth noting that the Gesshokuran is a completely new species unique to this world, not something found in real life, a deliberate piece of worldbuilding that signals its importance.
In Chapter 115, the Shopkeeper’s ideology offers more clues. He shows strong loyalty to the ancient Miteran Empire and reveres elks as divine beings specifically Miteran elks, these animals were sacred to the empire. Garden’s deep respect for nature and their selective missions hint that Garden may have originally been the assassination arm of the Miteran Empire, tasked with protecting its secrets and sacred resources like the Gesshokuran (Garden protecting the Flower).
Building on this, it’s possible that Westalis and Ostania were once a single nation (the Miteran Empire) before wars and conflict split them apart. The remnants of the empire’s traditions, ideology, and possibly supernatural knowledge could have survived in hidden organizations like Garden.
Anya’s proficiency in classical language, many assume it’s because the laboratory that experimented on her spoke it. But what if those scientists used the classical tongue because they, too, were obsessed with the Miteran Empire’s lost knowledge? Their experiments could have been direct attempts to recreate or harness the ancient powers tied to the Gesshokuran.
This raises another possibility: Was Yor experimented on as well? Her extraordinary physical strength, far beyond normal human limits she might be another product of such experiments.
In conclusion, the Miteran Empire, the Lunar Eclipse Orchid, Garden’s agenda, the origins of Anya, and possibly Yor’s abilities are deeply connected. The ancient empire’s knowledge of the Gesshokuran may have shaped the secret history of Spy x Family, and could still be influencing its present.

It’s Been 2 Years Since the Kiss Arc Began… and We’re Finally Nearing the Payoff
Chapter 79, aka the start of the “Kiss Arc,” came out exactly 2 years ago on May 1, 2023. That’s the chapter where Yor’s coworker Sharon casually tells her that a “welcome home kiss” is a normal thing between husband and wife, and all the others agree. Yor, naturally, is stunned. It’s such a small moment, but it kicked off so much in terms of her internal conflict.
We also got some of the best Twiyor panels in that chapter. Yor comes home, Loid greets her like a gentleman, and she just short-circuits thinking she has to kiss him. She literally faints, and Loid catches her. But in typical Yor fashion, she thinks she’s going to accidentally hurt him if she panics, so she just… backflips off his arm and slams into the floor. 😂
Loid’s trying to figure out what the hell just happened, Yor is flailing through apologies, and then we get Anya, half-asleep, mumbling: “They get noisy when they kiss.” Iconic.
At the time, I thought it was a funny one-off gag chapter. But nope, Endo-sensei has been slow-burning this plot thread for TWO YEARS. And it’s not just about the physical kiss. It’s about Yor becoming comfortable with her feelings for Loid, acknowledging them, owning them, and not being terrified by them.
If Yor manages to kiss Loid (even just a little welcome home peck), it’s going to be HUGE for her. It’s not just fluff, it’s a symbol of how far she’s come emotionally and physically. Because lets be honest the kiss has been on Yor's mind a lot...
Like a lot,
And I mean a lot,
In the last chapter, Yor even asked Matthew, and learned that assassins can kiss too!
So here’s my prediction: At the end of this Garden arc, when Yor goes home… she’s going to give Loid that kiss. The one that’s been building up for two whole years
It’ll probably still be awkward, but it’ll mean everything.

Spy x Family Is Hiding a Bigger Plot, and the Animals Are the Key
So I’ve mentioned this before, but the connection between Eden, Garden, and Project Apple can’t just be a coincidence. There’s way too much biblical symbolism going on.
Here’s what I’ve pieced together: We first hear about Project Apple back in Chapter 19. It was a secret research initiative under the previous Ostanian regime (the National Unity Party, which is led by Donovan Desmond, who may be a telepath himself). The project aimed to create highly intelligent animals for military purposes. It’s suggested that some of the experiments did succeed, but the project was shut down, so there was no public confirmation.
We already know Bond (Subject 8) came from this project, and so did Aaron. But what really stood out to me was the glimpse we got of other animals in the lab: one was clearly a dolphin (so sea creatures were not exempted from the experiment), and another looked like a winged creature, probably a bird.
That’s where things get interesting.
Director Wilkins recently mentioned Belle to Shopkeeper (the seal from chapter 103), and then there’s Kee Kee, the falcon used by Matthew. Kee Kee isn’t just a pet, she’s clearly intelligent. She tracks poachers, annoys hemlock, and honestly shows more tactical awareness than should be normal for an average bird. So if Belle and Kee Kee are both enhanced animals... that would mean Garden knows about Project Apple. And not just that, they’re using these animals. Whether Garden inherited the project, absorbed it after the regime change, or has some kind of backdoor access to its results, it’s clear there’s a connection. Which opens up a lot of questions:
Is Garden more intertwined with the National Unity Party than we thought? did they have a fallout? (I have the impression that Garden is loyal to the past empire and see all political parties as temporary).
Are there more Apple subjects out there, working under the radar?
Was Anya herself a part of this program, or something adjacent? Does the Garden know about her and Bond?
The idea that these three institutions, Eden, Garden, and Apple, are thematically and literally connected is starting to feel less like a theory and more like a reveal waiting to happen.

New Spy x Family illustration
😎 Look how cool everyone looks...

First time we see Chloe in an official illustration 😃 She and Yuri look so young!
And we can even see Yuri's captain *coughs* (Twilight's dad) together in the same panel/illustration as Twilight for the first time 🤩

“A spy’s job is to uncover secrets, and her telepathy helps with that anyway. Even if she becomes a spy, I think she’ll discover that it’s not as rewarding a job.
But I think Lloyd’s other job, psychiatrist, is something she would be very good at. We don’t know much about her childhood, but seeing as the doctors were not kind to her, she could turn that around and be the kind of ideal doctor that she never had.”
I personally don’t want Anya to be a spy when she grows up. While she idolizes Loid/Twilight, Bondman and their spy lifestyle, I don’t think she truly understands the dark side of this life yet. I think Loid and Yor wouldn’t want Anya to live this kind of life either. It goes against what they are fighting for. They want her to have a life free from violence and pain.
