"my shit was intense, but so was yours. it was just difficult for me to get out because i lived in such a contained space. i thank the higher beings every single day that foster made the decisions to leave; otherwise i'd be the fifteenth wife of some old dude and i'd have five children by now." murphy shuddered visibly at the thought, her focus tuned in on jerico as his cheeks flushed. for a moment she lifted her hand, ready to reach out and brush her fingers along the pink hue before she stopped herself, letting her hand fall back to her lap. "you're cute when you blush," she pointed out, her lips curving into a soft smile. "i think i'll get it on my ribs. easier to hide from foster that way."
"Thank you! I do my best," Jerico preened under the compliment. "It's okay. I get it, really. I'm just the psycho little rebel that turned out the exact opposite of how my parents wanted, but my stuff clearly wasn't anywhere near as intense as yours." Pink bloomed over his face at the compliment, and he had do avert his gaze. "Well, I still think it's a good idea for you to get one, but maybe start small. Like a snurderer on your ankle. Then you can still hide it, if you want."

"and sometimes you look for more meaning than you really need to." but the words had stung in the way a deep-rooted, bad memory stung. too many elders back home had said the same thing to her growing up, and now murphy would never be able to shake the feeling she got when foster chose to parrot them bk to her. "we have to settle for whatever frat we find, unfortunately. we can pretend it's good." but murphy took pause at her brother's comment, one eyebrow lifting curiously. "since when are you not looking for a hookup?"
"I'm just saying. Words have meaning," Foster quipped, something they'd heard quite a lot growing up that he had difficulty shaking. "Frats are just gross, but they do have plenty of alcohol and more than enough girls, if it's a good frat, anyway." He rolled his eyes a little, but he was smiling all the same. There was little he wouldn't do for Murphy at this point in their lives. "I'm not really looking for a hookup, but I still get quite a thrill when I get shit faced, like I'm breaking the rules."

"well in that case, i can definitely help." murphy had a bounce in her step, clearly too excited to be helpful. for every chaotic act they performed, they liked to doo something to help another person. it was how they balanced karma. "what types of things do you like to do?"
"yes and no," katrina answered. she was glad to hear this seemed normal for people who weren't from around here. "i don't really know what to do? i'm staying at the hotel and have only been to that fun palace so i was trying to find something new to do or see."

"hey, no compliments when i'm not prepared for them," she warned, flashing him a look of feigned annoyance. "and, for the record, i do look bangin' in red." surprisingly, wren didn't flinch when link's fingers brushed her skin, a happy hum leaving her throat and her head bobbing in a nod. "i can probably sit patiently and wait for ten minutes. i didn't have any plans for today apart from sitting somewhere with my camera. spending the day with you sounds way better."

"i consider us both lucky that you aren't dealing worse things. we booth would be too into that and we'd be more disastrous than we already are." though she let out a chuckle, it was cut short when he turned to look at her. wren's eyes went wide like a deer in the headlights, cheeks bright red as she shook her head at him' the problem with them being a secret third thing was that he flustered her too easily, but she didn't think she could fess up to it. she wasn't supposed to feel tingly every time he looked at her. "nope, not a thing. continue on with what you were doing. and considering i'm in my thirties, i can't be considered a child bride. we're age-appropriate beetlejuice and lydia deetz." she reached out to take the drink from him, her always-cold hands cradling the warm cup between them. "thank you, mr. murphy; i'll be sure to give you a great tip."

"technically i wasn't meant to come in today, but i ran out of some supplies and got desperate." wren shrugged her shoulders, hugging some pages to her chest before glancing to mara. "i'll get out of your hair. don't wanna ruin the creative flow."
"It's fine," Mara said softly. She didn't own the room. "I just didn't expect anyone else to come in today." She usually tried to time her visits to the studio to ensure she'd be alone. She didn't recognize Wren either, so she knew the other wasn't in her class.

"ditto, kiddo," wren teased, turning to press a gentle kiss to her best friend's temple. the two were inseparable most of the time, seemingly attached at the hip whenever they got the chance to be. giving wren the choice of anyone else and chandler would find her picking chandler every single time, and that thought made her chest feel warm in a good way. "you're always allowed to be self-centered around here. i have two preferred models, and you're obviously one of them. you want any coffee before we head over?"
"You're the only partner I need," Chandler reassured Wren. "You know I have trust issues." While she hadn't gone into specifics, she had told Wren about the very bad breakup, but hadn't gone beyond that. "I don't need smooches anyway. I just need some snuggles." Her entire face lit up. "Yes of course I would! I was only joking because I didn't want you to think I was that self centered. I'm always happy to help spark muse and if that means acting like a discarded body, I'll be the best fake dead body you've ever seen."

cole sucked in a deep breath; it was so deep, she found herself holding it for several moments until her lungs started to hurt. "no," she finally responded, sad gaze trained on her shoes, watching herself kick a few pebbles. "i guess it doesn't need to be anything but fate, but this is still weird for me. i came back here to get away." it was the honest truth, even if it made cole want to cry. "it's nice to see you too, even if i don't know how to feel otherwise."
raymond wondered what was going through her mind and if it was similar to his but when cole said that he wasn't sure if it was the same. "yeah my tour ended last week," he admitted, "does fate have to be anything but fate?" that was supposed to sound deeper than it did but he realized it made him sound kind of stupid. "nevermind just um. . you know it's good to see you."

"i do my best not to make people listen to things that i don't think they'll like. i stray away from the radio most days, so i have no clue what's mainstream or not. and yes, i am aware of how annoying that makes me sound." cole was barely paying attention to anything but the albums she was flipping through, her head nodding at his question. "i'm more than sure. we don't even have to make a big deal about it."
"Well... okay, then I'll play," Yag relented. "I just don't want you trying to make me listen to that brat album. I hear it so much at parties I'm starting to hate it." He paused before he started flipping through the bins. "Oh - are you sure? I wasn't gonna make a big deal out of it." Even though it was what he was best at - but he hated begging for attention from anyone that wasn't his brother.

"are you sure about that? because hanging out with me tells me you have a pretty low bar." she was clearly teasing, sitting back in her seat, letting her arms fall slack over her belly as she watched yag. "i've never understood people like that. if you have it in your heart to be mean to someone, then you clearly aren't their friend. pretty shitty." fern released a frustrated puff of air, her lips curving into a smile at his defeat. "that is exciting," she soothed, reaching across the table to squeeze his hand. "i'm so proud of you, baby duck."
"Excuse you! I have a very high bar," Yag scoffed, shaking his head. "Well; I don't know. People like to be mean to those they call friends sometimes. Doesn't make much sense to me, but whatever I guess." He let out a soft groan. "Okay fine, you can have some of my fries. But only because I know you like to dip them in your shake and I'm nice like that." He let out a soft huff of air. "I think I'm actually going to graduate this semester. So that's pretty exciting."

gilly melted into the kiss easily, her arms slung around declan's neck to keep from toppling over. it still disoriented her when he kissed her like that, and as she pulled back to catch her breath, she flashed him a wide grin. sometimes he made it hard for her to function, but she considered that a good thing.
"you keep kissing me like that, and we won't be able to leave the house. why are you so distracting?"
Declan grinned, honestly willing to do anything for Gilly. It might not've been healthy, but her sticking with him through his accident and what happened afterwards had made her an angel in his eyes. He texted his boss, telling him he wasn't feeling well and was taking a sick day.
"Done! I'm yours for the rest of the day," he said with a grin, rubbing his nose against hers before kissing her deeply.

"i suppose i can appreciate that," gilly teased, hooking her arm through her brother's so she could keep close to him. "if you let me loose in the toy section, i'm likely to buy something when i don't need it. declan is eventually going to get irritated with my incessant need to bring little toys home just so i can display them." with a sigh, gilly rested her cheek against halen's arm, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "this is nice. getting to spend time together. i miss it."
"I do know that; but I like the selection and price they have better than Target," Halen chuckled. "I need some new audio stuff, so while I'm puttering around in electronics, you can go look at the toys. Just don't get too far ahead of me or one of us will wind up lost in the Walmart maze forever, and they hate when you start sprinkling bread crumbs in the store."

"that was probably one of the best portmanteaus i've ever heard. good job with that one." murphy flashed jerico a genuine smile, her gaze staying on him, though her expression faltered a little bit. "i'm just a little too aware of how people potentially see me. it comes with the years of religious trauma and being groomed, i think. it's also why i worry about getting a tattoo. you're changing my mind on that, though." murphy's teeth worried at the inside of her bottom lip, her cheeks nearly turning rosy with a blush. "i think you could, but i think i see you differently than you see yourself."
"Snurderer," Jerico nodded very seriously, even if his lips were already twitching up into a grin. "I think that would be a great addition. I don't think you're a prude, actually. You talk like someone who was raised in a religious household, and this is from experience. I mean, my parents weren't super devout, but if they could force us to not do something they didn't like by putting the fear of God into us? They would." He flushed a little. "Oh - well, I mean. I don't think I could ever reach sexy status, but maybe a chest goat will put me one step closer."

for a brief moment, sutton wondered if coming up to him was a mistake. he hadn't even been looking at her as much as she'd been looking at him --- if he even looked at all --- so obviously she was just being presumptuous. but there she was, licking her lips nervously and fidgeting in her spot. any chance of being smooth had been thrown out the window.
"if you want to follow traditional standards, then yes, you're meant to be the one bringing me the drink. but i couldn't tell if you were interested or not, so i had to make an excuse to come over and talk to you." sutton's shoulders lifted in a shrug, though his comment made the corners of her lips curl in a devilish smile. "hate to be the barer of bad news, but i'm still on the market. i appreciate the sentiment, though; most boys in this town don't come within ten feet of me."
If he was being completely honest, Yag was about two minutes away from leaving. The night had been fine, but he was bored; however, when the girl that seemed to be vaguely in his orbit all night finally stepped right in front of him with a drink, he was glad he hadn't decided to leave even a minute sooner.
"Aren't I supposed to be the one getting you a drink?" He teased, though accepted the cup all the same. "Jäger, but everyone calls me Yag." He took a brief sniff of the cup just to try to figure out what alcohol was in it before turning his full attention back to Sutton. "You sure your boyfriend wants you offering other guys drinks?" Not the smoothest attempt at trying to figure out if she was single or not, but he didn't really want to end the night with a fist fight. "Because there's no way someone that looks like you is still on the market."

"you know i don't abide by discounts, but as long as you let me pay you, i'm happy." fern sighed, her hands falling to rest on her hips. "i was carrying a display shelf and i heard the bell above the door ring, so i turned too sharply. went right through the damn wall."
Jack's first instinct was to say no, but he knew he couldn't for Yag's tuition's sake. Still . . . "Friends and family discount," he said. "And I won't take no for an answer. I'll write up an invoice." He paused. "How did you get a hole in your wall?"
