It wasn’t often that Hekate visited the Fae. However, when she did, she found herself preferring the company of the Unseelie rather than their counterparts. There was an iciness, no pun intended, to the Winter Court that was strangely familiar to the demeanor she had built for herself.

Besides- the Unseelie threw fabulous parties.

It was such a party she was attending tonight; diamonds dripping from her ears and throat, gleaming like fractured moonlight. It was the winter solstice. The longest night of the year and a time the Unseelie roamed more freely. The Titaness had left the warmth of Greece to come and revel with the court once more. Black satin whispered around her form as she moved through the assembled Fae. She paused in front of a figure, nodding her head respectfully.

“Greetings to you, Queen Mab.”  Hekate greeted. “Your Court continues to flourish with each passing year. I am pleased to see it.”

“Ahhhh, I thought that would get your attention.” Grinning, she set the basket down and swept off the covering. “I managed to snag some baked goods. A lovely little assortment of things to keep on hand down in my home in the Underworld, but I never mind sharing. “I think she put some pastries, some bread, and a few other little odds and ends. Help yourself.” she offered. With a wave of her hand, two small dishes of cream appeared for the cats- peace offerings for disrupting their slumber.

“Shame.” she chuckled, holding up a basket covered in a cloth. “I swung by Hestia and picked up a basket of treats. I’ll have to find someone else to share the bounty with. I can always see if Poseidon is free….” she paused, eyeing the cats. “They’re adorable, by the way. I didn’t know you were a fan of cats.”

   “now hold on just a minute —”  zeus blurt out immediately, nearly jumping out of his seat.  the thought of poseidon getting hestia’s treats before he did made something feral awaken inside of him.  he shoved his cats to the side, and though gucci gave a disgruntled mew, they left him without much fanfare.   “see?  problem solved.   what kind of treats are they?”

   his gaze drifted back over to his cats who now played on the floor of his office.   “i never thought i would be, but…  they’ve sunk their claws in.”
