I’ve been reblogging and posting about the Black Lives Matter protests that are happening in Toronto
I have these under various tags, but the post common tag is my “Toronto” one, altho I also use the tags “Black Lives Matter Toronto” and “Black Lives Matter” (you can also find more posts/information on “allthecanadianpolitics” and their tags, too)
Please go through it, read about the protests and the way the Toronto police has treated protesters; read about their demands and what they want changed in our city
Read about the way they’ve treated the protesters–many of whom are black people of various genders–and how the police are (mis)handling the situation
Please donate money if you can to [email protected] and follow what’s happening on twitter #BLMTOtentcity, the BLMTO twitter & their facebook page
You can also follow Desmond Cole and Akio Maroon on twitter, who were both present during the protests, and read their tweets
Toronto has a history of police brutality and violence towards the black community and it needs to be heard, recognized, and dealt with
I hope all of the ppl who follow me and my mutuals as well can help spread the word out there

Kendrick Lamar used his epic Grammys performance to make a statement about black incarceration
There was no way Kendrick Lamar was going to let his precious few minutes on the Grammys stage slip through his hands without making an impact. Yet, no one could have expected how huge it actually would be. Kendrick Lamar just made history with the most epic, powerful performance of his career at the Grammys. It has to be seen to be believed.
