I wanna make a custom doll of my oc! Do you have any tips:3 and where do you buy the dolls to use as a base?

For a less expensive option, you can repaint used Monster High, Bratz, & Ever After High dolls as the most picked options in doll customization :) I always go on the second hand market and look for my doll bases there.

The pricier route would be to commission an artist to make you a BJD doll down to specific body modifications.

Sometimes I will buy a doll from the store if its currently being sold and will repaint it. But most of the time, it's second hand.
