I've drawn our transgirly Natsuki a lot this pride month, but I had yet to draw her big sister, the borderline Canon transfem, Arachnia! So I have rectified that!

In Nia's medallium entries, it states that she loves to bake and make sweets! So, I drew her up hosting a bakesale to help support the transitions of the many sisters she has claimed~!

Though be careful with her selection, as her medallium entry also states she has a nasty habit of *spiking* her confections. So it's a sugary Russian roulette! When you bite into those cupcakes will it be spider venom? Super estrogen(tm) or will it just be strawberry filling? Who knows!

Also, I am a bit proud of this sugar spider fit! As while I usually draw characters in cute clothes I find on the internet, I designed this one my self!

Pride month begins!

My friends, it's the gayest month of the year, so it's time for even more queer yokai watch content!

I know this year has been very disheartening for our community, mostly do to a certain administration. It's been rough on a lot of us, and it might not feel like we have a lot to celebrate, but remember: Pride is also a protest.

Every bit of art, every smile on a queer person's face and every day we exist the way we want to is a victory. So let's keep on existing. Embrace the weed mentality! Grow inspite of their attempts to destroy us!!

But anyway, this was just the first thing I thought of for pride, including a lion! :D

the monster-fication of perfectly normal animals

a topic that's just on my mind sometimes.

We've all seen fantasy stories that do this (scifi too, honestly). Wolves that are just relentless hunters, seeming to pursue the protagonists for absolutely no reason except to be scary predators, even needlessly risking their own lives just to recklessly keep attacking people. Snakes that leap into furious action the moment anyone happens to come near them, or even actively tracking people down just to bite and leave, only caring about creating a fatal injury. Poison and venom being used as interchangeable terms and even being given unusually strong acidic properties with no other indication that these were supposed to be fantastical snakes of any sort. Bats and birds of prey and so many other animals also get similar treatment. If it's "scary", it gets the monster treatment.

I hate this trope.

It relies on common misconceptions about real life animals and how they behave. It also feels lazy; if you want some kind of scary relentless monster creature, just create one! you're writing a fictional story in a fictional world, why not just make a new monster? Or find some other way to increase the stakes and give some tension to the story?

Wild animals do attack people occasionally, this is true. But they're not relentless about it, and they'll usually be more cautious and strategic when they're hunting for food. Most wild animals will only attack humans if they're provoked into it. They are dangerous, but they're not evil monsters.

Snakes get the worst of it, in my opinion. No snake is out there hunting people down just to dramatically bite them. Their venom is not horribly acidic. They're usually just chilling and want to be left alone. They can't eat people, so why would they hunt anyone? Stop the snake slander!

And please, please research how real animals behave. Get creative and make actual fantasy monsters if you really need some sort of relentless predator. Maybe have a little fun making fantasy animals or alien creatures that are totally mundane in their own world and have believable behaviors and interact with their environment and food chains like real animals.

Well, only one Arkveld is artificial, the one-of-a-kind (least per save) Guardian Arkveld, and it managing to reproduce asexually despite being designed not to be able to is a plot point. The one shown is a result of that, a “Natural” one…though it is cited that Guardian Arkveld was made after the true OG species went extinct, so even if it’s an accurate copy that became the template for the reborn species, it likely is still a bit off somehow. Of course, given it’s makers also made Zoh Shia…I’ll let you be the judge of how well Wyverns could make an artificial creature.

In any case, the chains are seemingly just an unusual adaption, given they’re used for a rather supernatural power of energy draining. It isn’t unreasonable to say that Arkveld is a product of a crazy habitat, given it’s a Wyvern, and given it used to be extinct, it could easily have been form a very strange time where such wild traits are not bred out. That perhaps combined with mutations that led to an elongated finger that was particularly elastic and flexible, which later developed into a highly flexible “chain blade” that’s made of two thinner “chains” that usually converge into a larger one.

Hello again! I just wanted to stop by and note what I’ve noticed about a newer MH Monster’s design, namely the Arkveld.

I main,ywant to focus on the wings, and what I noticed about them and the chains on them. Specifically, it seems to be set up so that the Arkveld has basically this sort of setup: The wings are on fingers just behind the chains, which I propose are on specialized front fingers as an attachment point. This is due to this image I was able to take from footage of one flying.

As you can see, the membrane of the wing is indeed completely detached from the chain, even in flight. This implies it’s attached to it’s own finger for support in a pterodactyl-like way, under the fur (which idk what you have to say about that, even if this is effectively an exaggeration of how bat wings have hairs on them to sense air flow). While not a perfect “realistic” wing design, it’s something I wanted to bring up since it’s interesting to me.

my bestie has been playing this game! I can't remember if she explained why they have that funky chain on their wing, but she did tell me the arkveld is some sort of artificial creature, which makes the anatomy somewhat more flexible.

the chain also reminds me of birds that have odd feathers, like that one nightjar with the long streamer feathers on its wings.

Say hello to a fankai courtesy of my first lovely client!

My first official commission complete, the client wanted me to realize their oc, Inkoma!

I can't speak much on this little guys lore, as I only made the design, but I've been told that instead of flames, he as little drops of ink flowing from his tail and forehead, as well as splotches all over his body(kinda like a dalmatian!)

I took creative liberties with the colors, taking some clear inspiration from bendy and the ink machine with the off-yellow to contrast the black.

My submissions for the Sterninator's "Multiversal drift" project. An alternate universe lampent evolution, and it's trainer!

Manolure hails from a world where Necrozma successfully ate the sun's light, robbing the pokemon world of daylight. After some drastic measures to stay alive, luminous pokemon became high in demand.

Licwicks became a staple on ships, thanks to being easy to move around. Eventually, they adapted to a life at sea and abandoned their fire type for water, resulting in a new final evolution, Manolure. (Based on the Man o war jellyfish)

This particular manolure is the signature pokemon of a familiar face, former trial captain Lana

Humanity has been getting on without the sun, but needless to say there's been... sacrifices. Lana works with her manolure to guide schools of the surviving fish pokemon toward fisherman.

This version of Lana is much more gloomy than the version we've come to know. In addition to specializing in water, she also has quite a few ghost types to her name.
