it’s the 40s/50s/60s. What if Sherwin, was a teen that grows up in a racist household and environment but his disgusting racist view is questioned when he meets a cute teenage Latino (Jonathan)

Sherwin always knew he’s had these feelings and hates himself for being gay.

him and Jonathan meet each other often, Sherwin’s racist but Jonathan takes his time and teaches Sherwin how these people he hate actually are. Jonthan holds Sherwin’s hand and tells him so much about struggle and community all the time to a point where Sherwin is horrified of his previous views.

meanwhile his parents are wondering why he always takes such a long time at the supermarket.

Rolling around in agony that when the fandom was more active, everyone collectively decided to NOT expand or build the idea on hearts themselves in the iahb verse. Like they literally become sentient and jump out of their owners chest to chace their crush. Like I GET why, everyone was focused on sher and Jon but man. Man.

So, to remedy that hear are a few of mine headcanons abour hearts!

- You can prevent a heartbreak, but doing so will result in a permeant crack on them. So even if it hurts, letting your heart break is the healthiest thing you can do. I see Jon’s heart having a few cracks! The more prevented heartbreaks the worse a heart will look. Though I can see it being a norm in adults, just not to an extreme.

-A hearts owner can feel whenever their heart is touched by someone they love, romantically or platonically! Although it’s more muted. So if Shirley rubbed aginst Jon’s cheek like how they do in the film, Sherwin would’ve felt that on his cheek aswell. Only works with skin contact though.

-Speaking of platonic feeling’s, I like to think hearts can also represent strong platonic love! Like you love this person as a friend so much it’s overwhelming!

-Hearts can come in any shade of pink.

-You can stop your heart from popping out if you keep you’re hands over it like sher does. But if the feelings are too strong they’ll just pop out like with Shirley.

-Telling your feelings is also another way to stop a heart from popping.

-Hearts can’t speak, can only make small noises.

I think that’s it?? There’s so much you can do with hearts but on any fics I read just, don’t.
