A pastime that leads to an income
Growing up, I was fascinated by anything crafty and artsy. For as long as I can remember, I've been crafting and making things with my hands. These are painting, drawing, making clay art, sewing, and crocheting.
I didn't learn to crochet until I was about 15 years old, It was pandemic when I started to get bored and had my first anxiety episode. Therefore I needed to keep my mind busy as well, creatively, and focus on other things. My mother taught me how to crochet. She mentored me the basic stitches. And my first project was probably a coaster. However after a few months, I eventually got pretty bored with crochet and moved onto the next craft.
A year had passed...
I picked up my crochet hook again and stumbled upon it and purchased a crochet beginner kit. I begun to watch few videos and after a few weeks, I had my very own crochet top. It wasn't perfect, but it was fantastic! At that point, I was completely HOOKED on crochet. It felt amazing that I could create and design my own clothes.

Year 2021 I created a lot of crochet projects. Somehow I felt inside that theres an eagerness that pushed me to do more, so I thought, "What if I start my own small business?" A lot of what "If's?" continued to cross my mind. Eventually I made a decision to proceed and continue my passion. I told myself there was nothing to lose if I gave it a shot.
On January 18, 2022, I finally launched my "Fancy Fairy" business page.
I made crochet flowers for Valentine's Day and posted them on my page. At first no one noticed because my page wasn't well known yet, With the help of some friends and family they started to share my post as their support.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching; it was February 12 and I still had no orders. Suprisingly I received an unexpected message from a random stranger, who had been recommended by a friend and wanted to get flowers for her mother. Following that, I received another message from my friend's boyfriend, who was in Manila at that time and wanted to surprise my friend here in Bicol.

I was really excited at the moment since I had two orders, Honestly, I'm almost losing hope because it was February 12 already and I still hadn't received an order, but I reminded myself that it's okay because my small business journey is just starting.
As the days goes by, I begin to receive numerous orders from friends, classmates, and random strangers.

I posted crochet flowers again this year. I received 15 orders in one and a half months which made me quite happy because it was my first time receiving a large number of orders.

I am grateful to God for leading me, as well as to my family and friends who believed in me.
This is how my pastime leads to an income.
