ginchy here!  I thought on Fridays I could start reblogging ‘The Story so Far...’ in case anyone wanted to reblog rather than comment on the story-thread.

Christmas in Poplar has gotten off to quite an interesting start in our story....

Out of the gate, Patrick almost burnt down Mushy Mansion and decided to take the edge off with a little nip!   Which led us to further Turner shenanigans--Angela’s Christmas List, Timothy’s visit from Caroline, and Shelagh’s attempt at Christmas shopping.  Said Christmas shopping spree has led to the most infamous part of our story--THE PANTS.  Leopard print, pineapple--soon every man in Poplar will be sporting an interesting (or inspiring??) pattern in time for the holidays or Christmas Concert! Beyond the pants, we’ve peeked in with a few of the Nonnatuns, the Buckles, Reggie, Peter, and a returning Trixie--who shall return home for Christmas in Poplar next?? Stay tuned for our next post, this Sunday, new date, same Tumblr post!!  😆 🎅 🎁 🎄❄️🍍 🐆 😆

Hello, all!!  Ginchy here.  Our rota ends on 11/4.  We’d like to keep the story going until Christmas, if you’re still interested! (It’s been such a fun fic so far!!) This weekend @kaguyahime1224 and I will set up a new schedule.  If my quick counting is correct, we should have 14 spots left until the Sunday before Christmas (as Christmas is on a Tuesday).  Kagu and I thought we could wrap up the story in that last spot, so that leaves 13 spots to be written.  

If you’d like your name to be removed from the roster or if you’d like to sign-up as a new writer (one who has not written for the Rota before), please message either @kaguyahime1224, @ctm-rota, or @thatginchygal.  Otherwise we should have your new dates posted by Monday, 10/22!   Thanks!!   😆😆

2018 100 Days Until Christmas CtM Round Robin

Calling all Nonnatuns–today marks 100 days until the 2018 CtM Christmas Special (and also Christmas but we know the gift we’re all waiting for!)!!  To celebrate, let’s try something new and have a little fic fun!!   

Premise

We will be doing a fandom round robin (RR)! What is a round robin?  It’s basically a collaborative story told in pieces written by different people.  Let’s give it a go!!  The goal is to keep this low-stress and high-fun!

Who Can Join?

The RR is open to all CtM fans who want to write!!  We’re hoping that fans of all ships will feel welcome to participate!!  

Where will the stories be posted?  

https://ctm-rota.tumblr.com/  The idea will be to have one dedicated story post that can be reblogged by each writer with their new content.

How long will the RR last?

The goal is to have 100 days’ worth of fics, so we will begin on September 16th and conclude on December 25th. This does not mean that you have to make a three-month long commitment by signing up. One story might last for a few weeks or might peter out quickly.  We’ll find out as we go along.  Again–low stress, high fun!!

Some basic parameters

A post can be up to 500 words long

A post should be posted on the posting date by midnight in the poster’s time zone

We’re thinking 3 days between posts to give authors time to write but so as not to lose momentum — but we’re flexible and open to ideas!

Exact dates are yet to be determined.  These dates will probably depend on how many people sign-up to write.  However, we’re all busy and want everyone to be able to participate that wishes to do so! Tentatively we’re thinking of posting on Sundays and Wednesdays.

If you’re unable to post on your designated day, message Kagu or Ginchy as soon as possible so that we might find a back-up writer (or be the back-up writer!).

So glad you asked this question! Please message Ginchy, Kagu, or the ctm-rota here on Tumblr and we will contact you with your assigned dates. Depending on the number of participants, writers may or may not have multiple writing dates.  We can randomize the writing order, or allow for signing up for certain slots.

This is going to be a learning process for all of us–but we hope to have fun along the way!

2018 CtM RR Story Thread

This is the read-only thread for the RR.  It should only be reblogged when an author adds a new part to the story.  If you’d like to comment on a certain writer’s section you may use the comment function, or we could create a separate reblog/comment post. It’s still new, but we’ve made a start.  We’re jumping in and here’s the story:

“I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know

Where the treetops glisten and children listen

To hear sleigh bells in the snow “

Patrick continued humming—slightly off-key, but no matter—as he continued stirring a pot of slowly melting chocolate on the stove top. Shelagh expressed concern earlier about leaving him while she took Angela and Teddy for a visit at Nonnatus House. Timothy was out gallivanting with his friends and he found himself in the extremely rare situation of being home alone for a few hours.

Idle hands were the devil's workshop, she teased, and left a lengthy list of chores that needed to be done in her absence. Apparently the carrot and stick approach was best with him, because the very last items on her note, underlined twice, were the words “blue silk nightdress” and “Rowse Honey”.

Naturally, he was more inclined towards the carrot than the stick.

With the chocolate finally melted, he turned to an open cookbook on the counter and examined the recipe. They didn't have actual cocoa powder in the pantry, but there were a few chocolate bars that would be a fine substitute instead. His homemade concoction would taste even better than the recipe, he thought, because there would be real chocolate instead of its powdered form. He scanned the rest of the recipe and added milk to the bubbling mixture.

He frowned. The recipe said to heat the mixture until boiling, and then remove from heat to serve. Well, since he didn't know exactly when Shelagh and their children were returning, perhaps it would be best to leave the pot simmering until they arrived home. He adjusted the temperature knobs until the blue flames burned low under the silver pot.

He brushed bits of sugar, salt and chocolate shavings off Shelagh's freshly laundered apron. Thank goodness he thought to wear it over his Christmas sweater. There would have been nothing less delightful than telling his wife that it only took him a day to ruin his present from the nuns.

Clicking his tongue as he made his way upstairs, he mentally ticked off completed items on the list and noted which tasks still needed to be completed. There seemed to be enough there to keep him busy for several nights, let alone this one. He sighed and sat on their bed, careful not to disturb the towering pile of clean laundry that needed to be sorted and put away. The pillows looked especially white and fluffy, floating like the giant marshmallows Angela loved to have with her hot chocolate.

He would just rest his eyes for a moment, he thought, smoothing the pillow with one hand and snuggling into the softness.

Sleep was just beginning to overtake him as the distinct smell of burned chocolate and smoke drifted into the room.
