Color "Light Organ" from the mid-1970s. This was basically a box full of colored lights driven by analog circuits that were frequency sensitive, creating a synchronized light show for your music.
These started off in discos but were eventually sold by Radio Shack and others as a home stereo accessory. While simple, the effect was mesmerizing. We had one, and the first night we used it the flickering light brought a concerned neighbor thinking the house was on fire lol.
