Let's Check In On Sheepwave!
One could quite accurately accuse me of being a Sheepwave "fan". In fact, one could quite reasonably claim that Sheepwave has a hand in most of the best things coming out lately. I've spoken at length in the past about Good Sensory, On Domestication of Masters, and From Pawn to Princess; all three of those continue to be incredible and very much worth your time. But, because that apparently wasn't enough, we've got more.
To wit:
Tumblr media
The Princess and The Predator by sheepwave, Slylittleprincess
Released: May 2025; Ongoing; part of the HDG Princessification Writing Jam
18k words; 5 chapters released
Significant Tags: AU, Vampirism, Forced Age Regression
Lynn Walsh is a thermal management engineer fighting for her life after her ship crashed on an icy forest planet. Tamai Armetisia, Ninth Bloom is a huntress affini looking to do a rescue mission. When Lynn’s ship is finally found, the two are fated to meet, and maybe they're exactly what the other needs most.
The premise here is pretty simple: what if Tamai Armetisia of Cat and Mouse was the affini who found Lynn Walsh? The result is a dark mirror of From Pawn to Princess. Slylittleprincess and Sheepwave working together isn't just for powerful, traumatic, deadass affini, it's also for blood-drinking "Mommies" who really wants to molest their little girls.
Y'all... Tamai is fucked up. It's great. There's so much blood! Mind the tags on this one, it's a spicy meatball. However, having just read the fifth chapter, I can confirm that it's also incredibly funny. Like, these two are having fun with this, and it really shows. If you liked Cat and Mouse, you'll love this.
And speaking of fucked up...

Hazing at the Floret Party by4WheelSword, sheepwave, and Slylittleprincess
Released: May 2025
26k words; 7 chapters; ongoing
Noteworthy tags: sorority/frat house sex basement
Abby is a nineteen year old independent college student surrounded by floret friends. her focus on her studies has put her in the target of a wellness check. she doesn't want to risk being domesticated, so she decides to go to a floret party. All she has to do is make an appearance, stay sober, and avoid pushy affini, and she can go back to studying for her finals. what's the worst that could happen?
Hey. You. You know that feeling? That feeling when your friend drags you to a party you didn't really want to go to? And someone hands you a drink, and you realize it tastes kinda funny, and then things start to get completely fucking out of hand?
Y'wanna kink off that feeling in a dark comedy where nothing truly awful can actually happen (well, nothing worse than getting taken as a pet by a benevolent mind control alien, anyways)?
NOW HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PISS?!
I can say from interaction with their work that 4WheelSword, Slylittleprincess, and yes, Sheepwave, are all extremely normal about both piss (noun) and piss (verb). I would like to briefly quote from chapter 4:
“I know how much you like the catheter, my love. Treat yourself.”
And I swear to god, this is the authors speaking directly to each other. Now, I've long ago given up any pretense of pretending I don't have at least a piss (verb) kink. And if you haven't... this one might get to you. I will also add that there's a running gag in every chapter and with every single chapter it gets funnier and funnier. You'll see what I mean.
SPEAKING OF OUTPUT...
Tumblr media
Good Sensory (Omegaverse) by sheepwave
For Slylittleprincess.
Released: June 2025
81k words (???!?), 18 chapters (!?!?!)
Notable Tags: Not HDG, Omegaverse
An autistic kinky romance story about learning to unmask and be loved as the person you actually are, rather than the one you think you're supposed to be. Sally Fable is a 22 year old transgender omega who doesn't click with most people. she is easily overwhelmed. bad textures, bad sensations, all of it. she also has a lot of experience being made fun of for how passionate she can get. Marsha Lywick is an alpha in her late forties who wasn't born as one, who wants to break Sally's masking habits and turn her into the cutest little bonded companion imaginable.
You've read Good Sensory, right? The kinky, fun romance story? With an affini who stalks the main character, drugs her nonconsensually, and otherwise acts like a dangerous predator, but it's genuinely fluffy and nice? Like, in chapter 2 of Good Sensory, Marsha figures out what's good sensory for Sally, then remodels her home and her own body to match it, and that's kinda crazy but also kinda neat and believable for an affini?
I want you to imagine for a moment what it might look like for this story to be transposed into the real world. Where Marsha is not an affini bound by benevolence, but a human. Where her power is enabled not by the compact, but by other means. What might that look like? What might Poppy Versiona look like?
The answer is. Um.
Woaw.
Let me tell you, without the context of HDG and the compact, the scenes where Marsha drugs Sally sure do pick up some new connotations!
So one major difference is that they're all humans. Another change is that they fuck. Like, rather a lot. It's a rather central point at this moment. This story is disgustingly filthy, pulls no punches, and somehow takes every horrifying yandere thing about the original Good Sensory and cranks it up to 11. I will confess, I am only a third of the way through it, as I've been savoring it to read to a partner, but the things it's setting up, the things it's doing... This story is goddamn incredible.
(It has been presented to me that the latest hot gossip on the street is that Sheepwave and Slylittleprincess might be more than just coauthors. I take no position on these allegations, beyond "Okay, yay!" It would certainly explain this output!)

It is hard to moan and run at the same time.
That is the key lesson that I hope to impart upon you today little one.
Yes, I know, you’re such a big strong soldier with a scary scowl who’s never once thought about sitting still and letting Miss dress you in something beautiful.
Yes, I know, you had lofty goals and elaborate plans with a rebellion that you were so desperate to see through. There is an obvious word in your language to describe this moment.
Anger.
“This is wrong!” You cry out, “I don’t want to be a pet. I want freedom. This is wrong.”
It makes my injectors start to dribble just hearing you. Because I know a fundamental truth about an adorable thing like you.
It is hard to moan and run at the same time.
My tendril moves across the space so effortlessly it makes you wonder if I deliberately let you go. I take great joy in selecting a spot where the skin looks softest and neediest to plunge into. It’s a feeling you’ll come to crave soon. The lazy drag of the thorn, the perfect choice, the heat of it under your flesh, the way it makes everything you touch feel so incredible. The dusting of pollen on the pinprick.
Perhaps I did let you go, because every moment that you spend hoisted off the ground and wrapped in my vines as I take you back to the bed seems to erode your fight more.
Angry tears and writhing limbs fighting against indescribable pleasure in a war of cognitive dissonance.
The fact that I have made you love the way I feel only makes you hate me more. For now. You are in the early stages.
Denial.
This is a particularly cute place for you to find yourself. I adore denial. Gasping, shouting through a vibrating tone. You continue with your old shtick for as long as possible as I effortlessly grip your wrists and ankles. I press your body into the soft material of the most comfortable bed you have ever felt.
I coo, and administer light petting to you, the animal in front of me. It comforts you on a primal level. Still you shout about your escape plans, how you want to kill me, what a monster I am.
Bargaining.
You finally admit that I’ve done something to you, but you refuse to identify the exact sensation you are experiencing.
You know what it is. I know what it is. Yet, we pretend. I believe Terrans refer to this as flirting. I ask you what’s wrong petal, and you spit in my face. You say that I know exactly what I’ve done, and yet you still refuse to use the exact word as I start to pull at the seams of your standard issue jumpsuit. Little pulls at thread that match the way I’m tugging at your resilience. With every opening I slide another vine deeper, running across your arms, your thighs. You whimper as I finally shatter the illusion you have constructed.
Docility.
You realize now the inescapable reality of your bliss, but you are not ready to appreciate it yet. All at once your limbs go slack as the fight leaves you. The cortisol drains and drops out, quickly replaced by the endorphins and euphoriants I have ensured are reaching optimal levels. It is my preference to work through this stage as efficiently as possible.
The pet inside you is winning. She needs encouragement to properly take root. I finish removing your clothes and maximize the surface area available for my molestation. Ropes of my body bind you tighter, hold you closer.
Vines that live the closest to my core with fibrous textures tease at your skin. Oh, how you’ll crave them in time as their rougher material becomes associated in your mind at a neurochemical level with the addling and addictive comfort of my most intimate cuddles.
I run a grafted feeler across your scalp in a massage that makes you drool and gasp. Your dilated eyes roll back into your skull as I hum a warm and loving song into your grey matter.
Smaller tendrils run between your toes, across your neck, into the folds of your ears and eyes and nose. They brush your lips and they part so easily, but I do not enter. This is still the beginning of our courtship and I wish the explore the moist cavity of your throat at a later time when it can be fully appreciated.
You leak from every place a pet can leak.
I produce a flower bud and rock it lazily back and forth in front of your bleary eyes.
You watch as the soft petals of the bulb retract, revealing the dripping thorn within.
You break into a million little pieces as the pet within you wins the battle.
My sweet little thing begs for more.
How can I possibly resist.

Hydrofracture by 4WheelSword
Released: June 2025
4.4k words; 2/4 chapters currently published
Notable tags: Homosexual Awakening (Forced)
Castor Nicostratus, an independent artist and notable homosexual, tortures himself with a weekly brunch with his best friend. Myron Hadley, an effeminate intellectual and Castor's best friend, is entirely unaware of the man's overwhelming attraction to him. The affini have allowed this to go on for some time, until one particularly reptilian type amongst their number decides to intervene for the good of all three.
Let's check in on what 4WheelSword has been up to lately!
I was, of course, deeply, madly, passionately in love with him. He was, of course, straight.
Oh Section. Never fucking change. 🥰 I just love how she writes messy gays! And this? This is delightfully messy. I can only share so much, but... this is gonna be real good.

There's Always A Choice by Xanderhall
Released: June 2025
1.1k words; incomplete; get in now.
Vivian's getting along just fine. She's got friends, a comfortable life, and no real worries. So why does the Compact insist on barging into her life?
This is the first chapter release of a story that's been cooking in the HDG discord beta reading channel.
I understand it doesn't look like much right now. But I've been following it in beta reading, where it's got a solid 11 chapters, and... basically I've been waiting for the author's Ao3 account to clear before recommending it, and that was difficult. Calling it "good" feels like an injustice.
Vivian is a masterclass in understated characterization, and Thistle's take on affini benevolence and the thorny problem of losing one's identity as a floret is wildly creative. It almost feels like it's written in response to common critiques of the setting, which would often be a knock against a work, but my god it's just so good. It's just chock-full of really intense and powerful feelings and concepts.
Look, if you trust my word as a curator, read this story. Subscribe to it. Keep up on updates. This is probably the best freshman effort I've seen in HDG since, like, Because You Tried To Run. It's really good.

Unlearning - A Short Saga by 4WheelSword, Moonfloret (LucisLibari), Slylittleprincess
Released: April 2025
13k words; complete
Noteworthy tags: CGL, age regression
Brook bubbles with anxiety, an independent orphan travelling the stars hopping between Affini vessels. Everything changes when Brook meets Kaze Serrulata, Eighth Bloom, on a little ship full of little sprouts. For those who prefer oops! all girls or oops! all boys- the F/F and the M/M
Let's get one thing out of the way. If you are a regular HDG reader and the names at the byline of this fic don't immediately make you think "immediate must-read", you clearly aren't a regular reader of this blog. All three of these authors are fucking incredible in their own right, and working together, they created this. Much like any piece with SlyLittlePrincess's name attached, Unlearning is full of powerful emotions and incredible character moments. Much like any piece with 4WheelSword involved, the descriptive prose is stunning. And much like everything else with Mercury's name on it, there is nothing else quite like it.
...Oh, the actual story itself? Well, for one thing, it's an interestingly understated piece of work. There are no massive reveals, no dramatic unexpected drug trips, just the slow drip drip drip of understanding carving its way into someone, inch by inch. It is beautiful in its subtlety; for such a short piece, Brook is wonderfully well-realized, and it makes the decisions she makes that much more powerful, because... well.. she could be you or me.
If you aren't super into CGL or Little Sprout stuff, I'd honestly still recommend giving this fic a look, because it provides a very powerful and not often stated perspective on CGL and age regression that may help parts of it make sense in ways they didn't before.

I just realized that my last post here was a while ago and very sad, so let me just let y'all know: I'm alive, I'm genuinely well, I just kinda ran dry on story recs after a hundred or so, because I just don't read that much right now.
That said - keep an eye out for "There's Always A Choice", currently in beta reading and waiting on an AO3 account, because that shit blew me the fuck away. It's so good.

Independence Is Easy by SapphicSounds
Released: February 2024
75k words; 17 chapters
Status: Complete
Wade Winters lives a perfectly happy life as an independent citizen of the Affini Compact. But when his affini friend Dali questions just how independent he really is, the pair agree to a bet: for the next month, whenever he fails to accomplish any part of his daily routine, Dali will start doing it for him. Wade isn't worried, it's not like Dali wants to domesticate him or anything.
Independent pro tip: don't do this.
There is a certain genre of HDG fics, featuring affini that are distinctly sharp and sympathetic protagonists who are fairly unambiguously being victimized by said affini. I'm not sure that Independence is Easy is the first such fic, but I know that if you write a fic in this mold, you will be compared to Independence is Easy. Because Independence is Easy goes unbelievably hard.
There are multiple moments in this fic that broke my brain; multiple moments where I thought "How the hell are there that many chapters left". Each time, the immediate response is "We can go harder". And it can. And it does. I will just straight-up say that Dali is one of the most evil, manipulative characters in the entire canon of HDG. An absolute masterclass in villainy, while still being firmly within the bounds of what an affini is and would do.
Without meaning to spoil too much, have the following six-word sentence: "Please tell me that's my skin." There is no context where you're likely to like the answer to that question.

How A Floret Finds Out by Delcan
Released: November 2024
61k words, 11 chapters
Status: Complete
Notable Tags: Giant Spiders, Moth transformation, embarrassment
Brion does not want to be a pet and does not want an Affini owner, and has tried to manage his life to stay independent. It's too bad for him that an Affini has already adopted him. If only that Affini would actually show up! A lighthearted semi-mystery story about home, friends, feeling doomed, and getting out of the house.
How A Floret Finds Out has the rough structure of a murder mystery story. A florter mystery story, perhaps? Perhaps not. Don't worry about my bad jokes, because How A Floret Finds Out is full of absolutely incredible jokes. And characters! Have you met Mo, the berson of all time? A joy at parties, that one. The characters are phenomenally well-realized, and the way it plays with feelings of entrapment, of feeling doomed... Well, all I can say is, there are no more bad surprises, little bug. You might be embarrassed, but that'll probably just turn you on. This protagonist activated cuteness aggression in half the active artists on the HDG discord. It's so much fun.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
How A Floret Fucks Around by Delcan
Released: January 2025
32k words, 6 Chapters
Status: Ongoing
Notable Tags: orgasm denial
This is a story that starts with the protagonist breaking their spine and skull. The fact that our protagonist doesn't know much about sex is a significantly bigger problem. A beautiful followup, following in the mystery story template - now the question is no longer "Who owns me" and is instead "How the fuck do I cum when this adorable moth body has no genitals". Really stellar, funny acekink stuff.

Personhood - A Short Saga Slylittleprincess
Released: January 2025
12k words, 4 Chapters
Status: Complete
Hazel’s life was falling apart, until Sooli Rotalaia, Fourth Bloom decided she could do a much better job living it for her. Now, Hazel’s a ditzy embarrassment, and she fuckinghatesloves it.
Hey, remember how in the Independence is Easy review, I mentioned that any fic within a certain mold is going to face comparison to it.
My first thought when I read Personhood was "Wait, how did you fit the core themes of Independence is Easy into 12k words?!" Which, it should be clear, is extremely high praise.
SlyLittlePrincess is a relatively new artist in the space, and she has impressed by dropping some truly incredible stuff (The Ascent, Personhood, and Sunsets in Suburbia make for an amazing hat trick of recent releases). In Personhood, there's a very important question - what if someone forced you to change in ways you hate, but you realize that it makes you happy? A deeply horrifying tale of loss of agency, with a softening twist in the 4th chapter that had me crying. It's really, really good.

Invasive Changes by Pryxes
Released 2021-08-06, unfinished, last update 2021-11-02
32.4k words, 13 chapters
Lily is faced with a conundrum. Stay as a free Terran in her struggling monotone life or accept to welcome the alien conquerors from a different galaxy and become a domesticated pet
CW: detailed descriptions of traumatic events, including but not limited to violence, torture, severe injuries and transphobia/misgendering.
This story should ideally be read through the lens of an early and mostly unexplored HDG universe. At the time this story was last updated, most of the stories that we today consider setting defining, or foundational, had not even begun to be published. In fact, I would not be surprised in the slightest if some of those stories were at least in part inspired by Invasive Changes to begin with. After all, it just keeps dropping these small pieces of information about the setting that you just want to dive further into! Perhaps it could inspire you too?
Given its age, I propose that the prospective reader takes the opportunity to look at this story through new eyes, as if they were reading an HDG story for the first time, seeing the story for what it is. To me, this is a story about a woman trying to do what she thinks is right, to do good by her people, misguided though she may be. A story that follows her as she comes to terms with life in the Compact while dealing with her own mental demons; a story about multiple individuals figuring out their own desires; and about love interests that for far too long have been left unsaid. Kiss already, you useless lesbians! <3
Do note that the story ends on chapter 13 with another 2 chapters originally planned. The ending will therefore seem a bit abrupt, but it still manages to leaves us at a somewhat natural point for the story to conclude, allowing us instead to imagine and headcanon what happened next! (But please please please Pryxes, do re-upload to AO3 and give us the last two chapters!!)

Seeking Shelter by Cadence_the_Hypnotic_Floret and Lagnia
Released: January 2025
6k words; 45 minutes of audio
Status: complete
Notable tags: hypnotic audio file
It's a dull, rainy evening when there's a knock at your door - two affini, who wish to come in out of the rain. It's only polite to let them in. Oh, and one of them is looking for some practice before she takes her first floret. Will you get out this experience with your freedom, independence, and willpower intact? Best of luck with that. A full floret experience audio file.
While this blog exists primarily to recommend fics, the world of HDG is bigger than just written works. This blog doesn't really do art recommendations (as recommending art that is predominately shared on private serves is... fraught), but there is one other medium HDG has invaded. There's also audio, from the incredible ambience of Phytology to fun little audio dramas to full-on erotic hypnosis files. It should come as no surprise; there are a lot of really good hypnotists who are active and creative in this setting.
Seeking Shelter is a 45-minute hypnotic audio story wherein two affini, voiced by the respective authors, come in out of a storm, hypnotize you, drug you, and turn you into a floret. Even beyond the respective authors though, the soundscaping would have been impossible without the work of Schnozzberry's biorhythm audios, and the concept of what an "affini voice" sounds like to begin with was pioneered by SapphicSounds. Throw in some experience with audio engineering and inductions, and the end result is a mesmerizing soundscape that drags you into a degree of comfort and pleasure you won't want to leave.
Cadence's audio files are fairly unique within HDG, and if you're interested in that sort of thing, I recommend giving them a look.

A Part of Who I Am by Moonfloret (LucisLibari)
Released: September 2024
30k words, 12 chapters
Status: Ongoing.
Noteworthy tags: Yaoi, transmasc main character, I’m not a floret if the socks stay on
Dr. Sage McClaren has gotten used to the ways of Affini by now. An independent xenobotanist working with them every day he thinks he’s cracked the code to domestication: be a gay man. Kind of. Following a whirlwind of conversations that bring a fair bit of floret fantasies and fears to the surface, he meet Cyprassi, a male-presenting Affini who to his surprise- wants to get to know HIM. What follows is a whirlwind of broken preconceptions, internalized transphobia, obsessions and compulsions, and a whole lot of unpacking. All while building a relationship with this Affini that’s quickly becoming the greatest friend he’s ever had. And totally just his friend. Right?
Yaoi lovers rejoice! A Part of Who I Am is a dreamlike romp through the incredibly dense and beautiful world of New Asteria. There is a very unique vibe to this fic - it's written in present tense third person with a very personal, descriptive style, and the result is downright impressionistic. It is also a heartfelt exploration of moral OCD, and a pointed look at what forcefemme looks like for a trans man. Recommend extremely highly.
Another fun fact: there's art. It's really good. Apropos of nothing, @moon-floret happens to take commissions and is pretty awesome about 'em.

Pspspsp by RaeIsteria
Released: February 2025
7k words; One-shot
After spending three years on a deserted island, a marooned mercenary learns how much things have changed in his absence.
This one's just sweet, and the fact it has as few views as it does feels downright criminal. "Basically a dog rescue from the dog's perspective". Rae, as usual, has an excellent way of finding strong narrative tension in simple situations, and "feral" is far more literal than usual here - this dude's a mess. Just a fun, fluffy story about rescuing a wild animal in need of a good home. <3

Reading The Leaves by Kanagen
Released: February 2024 (part of "February Fluff Fics")
9k words; Oneshot.
Notable tags: enthusiastic consent
Tacey is an independent sophont who works at Lucky's, a coffee & tea cafe on Nepenthe, recently liberated by the Affini Compact. Life is great and only getting better — and then the affini of her dreams walks in the door and knocks everything off-kilter. For the HDG community's February Fluff Fics 2024, this is a tale of love, tea, silly misunderstandings, flornography, and raunchy workplace sex. I put the noncon flag on all my Human Domestication Guide fics just because of the nature of the setting, but everyone in Reading the Leaves enthusiastically consents to all the horny stuff they do, promise!
And now, a little look into my thought process as I write these.
What to recommend next. Hmm. Well, Kanagen hasn't made this list yet, so let's fix that. But which fic?
Well, there's No Gods, No Masters, a downright foundational fic in HDG's history... but it's a foundational work, everyone knows it's amazing! It's right there on the wiki!
There's Floret in the Mirror, which basically defines what life is like for a digital sophont in the Compact, features some of the most incredibly bizarre kink scenes I've ever seen in any medium... But it's a sequel to No Gods, No Masters, and, again, everyone already knows it's good!
Ooh, we could do Sui Generis, an unbelievably powerful affinification story that personally affected us in ways we haven't fully recovered from... But we just did ADG, and affinification is a landmine.
What about Reading the Leaves? Ooh, yeah, that's good! It's an absolutely adorable useless lesbian fluff one-shot, written with all the incredible care expected from Kanagen, about a tea shop owner and an affini she's falling in love with. After a contrived romantic misunderstanding threatens their existing flirtatious dynamic, will our main character have what it takes to make things right? And become an overnight florn sensation? It's wonderful, exactly what we're looking for. Perfect.
And hey, I can even use a self-reflective framing device to go over some other absolutely insanely good things Kanagen has written!
...Okay, realistically, if we're going to talk about a Kanagen one-shot we should probably namedrop Mainspring, but it's my blog and I really like Reading The Leaves.
In conclusion, Kanagen writes good words.

All You Need by ObliviaWrites
Released: January 2025
16k words; 3 chapters
Notable Tags: Class-C, Bimbofication, Vampirism
Status: Complete
A tribute to the incredible horny potential of Class Cs, featuring a bitter terran lapsed academic and the deadbeat affini neighbor whose attention she just can't seem to shake. Catamina Prince knows that something in her life needs to change. Since the affini arrived, her academic career has been in a downward spiral, her frustrations with the new status quo grow by the day, and she's never been more alone. Her annoying neighbor, Gracie, will not stop telling her to take it easy and sample her hospitality, but what does Gracie know? Catamina knows herself and she knows what she needs. Right?
...January's been a good month.
Class-Cs, or "bonding enhancers", are very hot. Citation: this fic. This is a beautiful corruption fic, about a Terran who really needs to chill out at least a little bit, and so gets an implant that dispenses class-Cs to help with it. Against her will, naturally. It is an extremely hot story, running that delightful border between dubcon and noncon, with a heaping helping of love potion.
Also, if I may offer a bit of paratext: Oblivia also made art of Gracie, reposted here with permission. Gracie looks like she stinks good.

The Saga of Dandelion Fluff, Real Affini AngelMoon__Moon
Released: 2022
26k words; 10 chapters
Status: complete
The Affini Compact has caught up with and boarded their ship, but Kallie and Trissa have a cunning plan to avoid capture. A somewhat more lighthearted Human Domestication Guide (by GlitchyRobo) story.
The cunning plan? Disguise themselves as an affini. Like two children in a trench coat. And if you think that's dumb... wait until they start beatboxing. No, really.
Dandelion Fluff is, above all else, gut-bustingly funny. It's a sweet, lighthearted comedic romp through the affini compact, featuring the two dumbest disaster lesbians you'll ever meet. Can they escape the affini's clutches? Do they ever get less dumb? You can probably guess the answer, but read it anyways, this fic is hilarious.
