some reasons why jason is Cool and a good friend to have:

he will always remember your birthday and have a gift of some kind ready

he has a terrible sleep schedule so is probably awake at any hour if someone needs to chat

he genuinely cares about Everything

very supportive

very loyal

is more perceptive than you think and comes up with some good insights

has connections Everywhere, so he’s very helpful to know

knows something about Everything, would absolutely rock at trivia nights

I have an Idea, hear me out.... Jason (potentially with an npc to help) starts a Bookclub for a column/article in SW, recommending any book that is magic related, fiction or non fiction. He puts the feelers out to see who wants to join (and your muses join 😌🤭) and he sends a copy of the book to whoever is keen to join (along with some little goodies). The Bookclub meets up to discuss the book, giving cause for different muses to interact when they normally might not, and jase can always meet up with your muse individually to discuss the book too.

If he's at a formal, suit and tie type, event he wears a black suit, white shirt, and a Fun tie - typically a solid magenta or bright yellow one. Sometimes one with a cheerful pattern, like sunflowers or rainbows.

Jason was raised by a community of Older People and so despite the fact he's well caught up on modern trends and ideas, he does still have some Old Fashioned behaviour at times and habits he can't shake. Such as addressing people by their title 'Mr, Miss, etc' until he's closer with them and/or they tell him to stop, holding/opening doors for people (sometimes his politeness gets him stuck holding doors for at least five minutes), and standing up to acknowledge whenever someone new enters the room. He's also big on handshakes and making eye contact with whoever is talking /he's talking to. This one is a bit of a struggle for him at times but he tries not to interrupt when other people are talking and also tries to wait until someone is Not Busy before talking to them.

The muse: Jason is a super minor character who appears a few times in the Fairy Tail manga and anime. He is a reporter for the Sorcerer Weekly magazine and thinks that mages are the coooolest! He’s often a judge for mage competitions and events. He is energetic, emotional, and eager!

Portrayal Notes

As usual - Below are points I consider to be important regarding my muse and I hope they will be kept in mind during plotting/writing. Links to specific headcanon or divergence posts may be included in the below and I may add to this post in the future, as I go back over the manga or think about things further.

Note: filler arcs/chapters and the 100 Year Quest are not included as canon here.

While Jason has always been a lighthearted/cracky kinda muse for me to have fun with messing with other muses, (and I still would love to do that) and him writing ridiculous articles is lots of fun for us, I do see more to him and would like to add depth to his character.

Adding to that, while it's easy to use Sorcerer Weekly (and Jason) to cause ic drama or to vilify them, I have several hcs surrounding them that would go against that. I'm not saying your muse has to like Jason/SW or the media in general, but I write Jason as being respectful to everyone, and now that he is one the magazines Editors, he has somewhat more control of what gets published.

That being said, Jason is also not the only SW reporter/editor and he can't control everything. There is another main reporter that does write a lot of rumour nonsense and has issues with Jason.

For funsies, I've given SW a rival magazine, Mage Magic, which is operated by a former SW reporter and rival of Jason - Glen Thorburn.

Jason has certain ethics that he upholds - he never takes or uses pictures of someone without their permission, he checks his facts (usually), and is quick to make corrections if he gets details wrong. His ethics have earnt him a certain reputation and has made him popular and trusted among many mages.

He has a vast number of connections in the mage and non-mage communities and has the contact details for many people, he will never share the contact info with anyone else.

While he is excitable in nature and is very expressive, he is not out there making heart eyes (his reactions to Mira at the GMG come to mind and i say Nope) or being creepy/pervy towards anyone.

He lives in an apartment in Crocus.
