Rumble Fish
S.E. Hinton
"California is like a beautiful wild kid on heroin, high as a kite and thinking she's on top of the world, not knowing she's dying, not believing it even if you show her the marks" (87).
"I didn't like this being scared of something and not knowing exactly what it was. I couldn't fight it if I didn't know what it was" (110).
"'I learned that if you want to get somewhere, you just have to make up your mind and work like hell till you get there. If you want to go somewhere in life you just have to work till you make it.' ... 'Yeah, It'll be nice when I can think of someplace to go'" (133).

Balance Point
Joseph Jenkins
This book was amazing. A reminder that the best books are ones that put what you've been pondering into words.
We are the Earth. The Earth lives in us. To care for the Earth is to first seek spiritual awareness of her. The tangled world I've wished to untangle my understanding of is perhaps not external but within. At least it starts that way.
We are all each other. We are the same. And to truly *feel* this, I highly recommend this book.
