what kinda hobby do you think malcador had before he became a dust pile? beyond being weird with a half-elf
He was definitely one of those people who played chess with himself. Also into knitting really hideous, lumpy sweaters and hats for Ael to wear. Dude was absolutely into gardening, but he’d poison all of the plants with increasingly toxic substances and then see how long it took for their naked branches and stems to wither and crumble.

Can you speak more on your thoughts about marines being 8ft tall?
Sure. I'm of that opinion that an armoured firstborn marine, in modern 40k canon, is 8ft tall on average. They have height variance, obviously, like any group of people, and they are shorter out of armour, but in armour they are big boys. I'm not saying all marines are 8ft tall, I'm saying the average armoured firstborn astartes is 8ft tall.
If an astartes was 7ft flat in armour, then that would imply they're 6ft whatever out of it. This would be fine except that when they're unarmoured and hanging around regular people, they're still depicted as a lot taller than them. Unless the Imperium's populace has vertically shrunk (and it really hasn't) a 6ft something astartes wouldn't be looming over random people.
The 8th edition Chaos Space Marine Codex, when discussing baseline astartes physiology, says that they're 7ft tall. Note that this is not when they're all geared up, this is simply providing the basic physical traits of a space marine:

The Wrath and Glory core rules (thank you @historitor-bookshelf for the source) states that all marines are at least seven feet tall, with Primaris being a minimum of eight:

So, at a basic minimum, a marine has to be at least seven feet.
Now let's go into specific depictions of marines.
The Chaos Marine from Eisenhorn:

Garviel Loken (a pretty standard-sized marine) in Horus Rising:

Jonah Kerne in Dark Hunters:

Priad, Brothers of the Snake:

Araezon and Malfael from Dante:

The bare minimum height for these guys out of armour is 7ft, and we have seen firstborns throughout the setting who are considered to be well in excess of that (Tyberos, Pollux, Abaddon, Falk, Moloc, Ba'ken, Pasanius, Ranulf, Silas Alberec, Seydon, many of the Salamanders). The old 7ft flat armoured marines have not been a thing for a long, long time. To reiterate, I'm not saying all firstborn marines are 8ft. I'm saying the average height of an armoured firstborn is 8ft.

It kind of settles it? It does make enough sense, at least. All astartes are over 7ft, Primaris are at least 8. Given that, even out of armour, marines are notably bigger than their serfs, I really don’t think they’re topping out at 7ft in armour.
Loken is described as being 2.5m (~8’2”) in his armour, and he’s not considered uniquely large.

All the Alpha Legionnaires being tall, maybe. That one is funny to me just for logistical reasons. The guys who famously infiltrate other chapters are all bizarrely large. Just picture that.

Agree to disagree. I do think they're ~7ft out of armour, which codexes support. Chaos Marines 8e, for example:
The Adeptus Astartes were created as the Emperor’s ultimate fighting force. Implanted with the gene-seed of the Primarchs, the Space Marines stand seven feet tall, with thickened bones, two hearts, hyper-dense muscles and all manner of special organs that allow them to survive and fight in the most hostile conditions.
And, obviously, they have height variance just like regular people. I mean, hell, humans in the Imperium can get freakishly tall, even without a bunch of augmentations.
Power armour adds considerable height to them in writing, very consistently, and even out of it they're a lot bigger than most people. That simply wouldn't be the case if they were 7ft in armour, in a setting where people like Cain, Gaunt and assorted stormtroopers are canonically over 2m tall.

What is the worst place, time, and status (ex. Guardsmen, civilian, space marine(non psychic), etc.) to get a psychic awakening?
I would imagine in the middle of a warp incursion. Or during warp translation on a ship. That'd potentially be pretty bad. A civilian, or anyone on that generally low tier of social status, would be the least desirable type of person to be during such an event, because the odds of you being killed by anyone nearby is relatively high.

Sure, but firstborn astartes have still been consistently considered 8ft tall for years and years now, as per Abnett’s writing, which seem to have been the primary source for depicting them as such.

Earlier on in 40k's history they weren't crazy tall, no. Very early on they were basically just tall dudes in armour, but putting those days aside, they were like 7ish ft tall.
That did change a good while ago, though. Dan Abnett established the 8ft tall (firstborn) marine standard in his writing, and it's the one that stuck and has remained the most consistent height for them. Which isn't to say that you don't get marines that are taller or shorter than that, of course. Primaris marines range from being a bit larger than firstborns to Custodes-sized, depending on the chapter, and firstborns, like people, are a range of sizes. Voss is really short, Tu'shan and Tyberos are really tall.
They've definitely crept up in height over time as the image of an astartes has clarified and modernised and succumbed to setting creep, but the 8ft marine has very much been a thing for well over a decade.

When the chapter kneads him most, he shall awaken
From his ancient slumber deep under the crust
He shall rise, proof of a victory that draws near
And lo, the enemies of mankind shall be toast
Though the grain of time moves against him
He remains whole

Is the Lex Imperialis dlc worth the extra money?
I have no idea. Depends on what your financial situation and personal sense of value is?
The Arbites companion & Origin is cool. The Overseer archetype seems REALLY good. The quest stuff is good.
I got the whole thing in one chunk as part of the summer sales going on, so yeah
