Stede's season 1 arc only makes as much sense as it does because he's GAY gay (has no attraction to women) but I think Anne Bonny really truely confirmed that he suuuuuper doesn't swing that way, because Stede's type so far seems to be a cool pirate who shares his interests and is unapologetically into him (that last part is important because of Stede's self esteem issues) and Anne Bonny genuinely ticks all three of those boxes. If they wanted to play him bisexual it would have been very easy for Stede to express attraction to Anne but turn her down in an effort to remain true to Ed and have it be proof that he's committed to his relationship with Ed even when they're broken up, but instead they had him be confused and a little weirded out that she was kissing him. Like this was not a "you're lovely but I'm engaged" moment it was a "eugh, why are we kissing?????" Moment.

The way Ed curls up all tiny when he's feeling scared or very sad never fails to break my hurt. Like, he's a six-foot-tall middle-aged man but he looks so small. He usually carries himself with so much confidence, but then you see him when he's upset or hurting and you could hold him in one hand he's so small.

I'll never emotionally recover from this shot I think. Literally how did they make him look one inch tall.

He obviously feels so much safer when he's hidden and curled up so he looks and feels smaller.

When he's having a panic attack remembering his abusive father, that's the one that especially hurts me. He's still that scared little boy.

Something about it is so vulnerable and heartbreaking. It's clear he's learned that he's safest when he's hidden away and small, taking up as little space as he can.

Another thing I love about Stede Bonnet is he has every reason to be so cruel. He has been bullied his whole life, forced into a loveless marriage, so miserable for years that he cried by himself often enough for Mary to be concerned about it. It's gotten to the point where he just assumes everyone hates him and thinks he's a worthless failure and is surprised if that doesn't happen.

But he is, so fundamentally, a kind person. Don't get me wrong, he's a major bitch and he can be selfish, but he prioritizes kindness. He doesn't like cruelty, he wants the people he cares about to feel safe and happy and valued. He's very generous with compliments and praise. He'd give the people he loves a million chances - look at every argument he has with Ed, he is always so patient and tries to be understanding, even at times like their argument in s2e7 when Ed wasn't in a state of mind to actually have a discussion. He's one hell of a bitch but he never judges anyone for things they can't control. Despite all the cruelty the world has shown to him, he has so much love in him - for the people he cares about, yes, but for the little things. He loves beautiful things and he loves sharing beautiful things with other people. He's never surprised when people are mean to him but he never stops offering people kindness.

Stede really looks around and he says "I've actually decided to be better to the world than the world has been to me," and I love it.

I just realised that the izzy stans literally just believe every word he says . Like I kept seeing ppl say he tortured the crew and I was like ??? but then I realised izzy said that. In a convo where basically nothing he says is accurate to reality. We are not supposed to believe him, especially since he lies about Ed being alive like 2 seconds later.

And they believe all his rants in s1 too

Like pssst that is not exposition of things they didn't bother to film, that's the plot showing u he lies to make himself look better . He does it most times he opens his mouth . He lied about every interaction he had w stede before Ed met him.

Side note : how fucked up to have the person u have worked with for ages and trust be like lying to you practically every interaction . That's so fucked
