Astoria could already feel the bruise forming on her shoulder and she knew that the dark purple markings would carry down her arm sooner rather than later. Either a consequence from the curse or just a genetic predisposition, Astoria couldn't really narrow down what in her life had made her more likely to bruise than others.

She rubbed her shoulder gently as he spoke, nodding her head slowly as to not give herself a headache. "I ... No. Nothing important." She whispered before she stuck out her hand, suddenly reminded what the polite thing to do in this situation was. "Astoria Greengrass. We weren't in the same year in Hogwarts but I suppose I can not hide the fact that I know who you are. Pleasure to meet you." She offered him a small smile, hoping it came off as friendly.

Harry stared at the other- he was a vaguely aware of the other but a name wasn't really coming to him. Green eyes stared at the woman he'd bumped into him, oh Merlin she was staring. Staring at him like everyone else in the ministry.

Here it comes.

The young wizard was, admittedly, caught off guard by her words and he blinked. "Huh? Oh I'm fine, it was a shoulder check, I've been hit with worse." he said with a shrug.

"Besides it's no more important that I'm fine than anyone else, if you don't mind. I'm no different than anyone else." She wasn't freaking out which was a bonus. "I'm guessing you know, but I'm Harry Potter, just Harry actually. Uh, I'm not- I'm not keeping you from anything am I?"

In actuality, Astoria had nowhere she absolutely had to be. Maybe in the potions classroom, brewing some extra pepper-up for the week. Professor Flitwick was kind enough to allow her to brew when her supplies got low but other than that, Astoria wasn't exactly the most loved Ravenclaw in her year. Her friends were far and few and while she would be much happier to spend her lunch hour listening to Mandy Brocklehurst's latest gossip, she had made a promise to Daphne and Theo.

She just never anticipated having to lie on the spot like this.

"Not ... really." Astoria whispered, pressing her lips together to stop the shiver that threatened to run down her body. "The elves made me an extra cornish pasty and I wanted to offer it to you." Which wasn't a lie. The elves had a horrible habit of giving her more food than she could stomach, which all went to waste in the long run so if anything, this would help her guilty conscious.

it took less than a week since arriving back to hogwarts to finish his mandated eighth year for draco to be fed up by the glares and whispers that surrounded him the minute he entered a room. while unavoidable during classes, meals were another story. it wouldn't have been so terrible if any of his friends had come back, but alas, he was fated to endure the adversity alone.

draco opted to sit in the courtyard or by the black lake for meals, finding solace in the outdoors. the dead of winter didn't deter him, either. the bite of the cold was a welcomed numbing agent ( and warming charms existed when it got too cold, of course ) and acted as an additional disincentive to other students. so when draco spots astoria walking through the courtyard in his peripherals, he doesn't think anything of it. he takes a bite of a muffin, continues to scribble his thoughts in his journal, and ignores the witch passing through. it only startles him slightly when she stops in front of him. his grey eyes look up at her, his expression stoic. at her question, draco frowns. "why?" they weren't exactly friends. draco was closer with her older sister than anything. "don't you have any other place to be?"

"I might just fail." Astoria whispered, looking back down at her textbooks. "Nothing makes it stick!"

Astoria sighed, crouching down to pick up her purse before she looked up and ... oh ... oh. This was Harry Potter. In front of her right now, was Harry Potter. She stared at him for a moment, processing the fact that she had just shoulder checked him before she realized that staring was not polite.

All of the etiquette classes that had been carved into her mind came crashing down on her and Astoria let out a small squeak as she stood up.

"I'm fine!" Astoria hummed, pressing her lips together, not knowing what to do at this point. Somewhere in the ministry, Theo was waiting for her and now she was standing in front of Harry Potter. "But are you fine? It's very important that ... you're fine." She trailed off, shutting her eyes in embarrassment

Harry and the ministry didn't get along as well as they probably should. The so called Boy who lived was seen as having used his name to get the job, and he clashed with a lot of the older aurors who he knew weren't playing by the rules they should, so while he knew he was doing good work he kind of hated the ministry sometimes.

He'd been vaguely aware of a trial, but he'd had enough of that to last him a lifetime so he'd decided to go bother Hermione when he felt someone shoulder check him.

At first he thought it was an auror trying to put him in his place and he reached for his wand before her apology caught him off guard and he raised a hand, "It's okay. I wasn't really paying attention either. Guess I get lost in my own head sometimes. You okay?"
