He chuckles softly, a second hand joining, poking stitched cheeks. He'd needed a break from his work and something to distract him from his thoughts. Mahito was perfect for that; he enjoyed picking at the curse's brain, learning more about his growing personhood.

"Oh? And if not needed, what should I do to garner your attention? You seem rather deep in thought; what's on your mind?"

I don't think we, as a fandom, talk about how objectively hilarious Kenjaku is as a character, both in writing and in concept.

He has a Cursed Technique that lets him jump into other people's bodies, which, how the hell did he even learn he could do that??

Some Techniques are pretty self-explanatory, I feel like you'd be able to tell pretty quickly what your Technique was if you were able to control fire, but how the hell did Kenjaku figure out that he won't die if he pulls his brain out and puts it into a corpse? How is that just a thing you discover you can do?

Not only that, this fucker is a millennia old! He's been alive since the Heian period. I need to know how he reacted to advancing technology. Did he flip his shit when he first saw a car? How'd he feel about phones and the introduction of the internet? How fascinated was he by the moon landing?!

He gives birth to the literal main character of the story! Pregnancy hormones are no fucking joke. Was he more emotional than usual? Did he have really bad morning sickness? Yūji can pack away the food as is, so I imagine Kenjaku was always hungry because Yūji just wanted more.

Forget eating for two, Kenjaku had to have an entire feast daily to keep that little parasite happy. You know he had insane cravings, too. Yūji had him eating the weirdest shit like jam on burgers and peanut butter on pickles.

He was with Jin long enough to get pregnant and give birth to Yūji, and he was still there for a while after. It's so funny to imagine this 1'000 y/o Shaman fucking around with household appliances out of boredom in a Japanese Suburbs with his technically legal husband who's just some dude.

And then after he's done enjoying the domestic life, he goes on to play board games with curses and wearing Hawai’ian shirts on the beach

All of that while being named after the goddess of mercy, Fukukenjaku Kannon. This man is ridiculous 💀

Good. He seems to enjoy spice, which bodes well to trying other foods of similar styles and other flavorful cultures. Wouldn't it be interesting if someone who didn't need to eat discovered a favorite or least enjoyed food? A harmless experiment, perhaps, though entertaining nonetheless.

The sorcerer lets out a laugh at that last comment, shrugging.

"Oh, you flatter me! I'll have you know I'm a man of many skills~!"

He watches him, amused, observing the way Mahito eats and the subsequent enjoyment that spreads over stitched features. It's...cute, how he tries to describe such new sensations.

"Mmhm, this is a common meal. I believe what you're experiencing is the feeling when food is spicy, my dear curse... it's not too spicy, is it? It doesn't hurt your mouth too much?"

"Give it time, you're young, and the world has much to offer. You may surprise yourself."

Eyes follow Choso until he is no longer visible. A bit of a shame, he'll have to try conversing with him later. Probing the minds of others was a good enough pastime to continue it indefinitely. Focus re-shifted to Mahito, he notes his disappointment with mild amusement.

"What do I do?" Definitely an interesting question, one he finds himself debating answering as himself rather than Getō. He could also completely lie, but being as old as he, was it truly a lie when he'd likely dabbled in most activities that have existed over the last millennium? He'd think of something odd, and see if Mahito believes him.

". . . I participate in extreme ironing; I go into extreme environments and iron my clothes, for fun."

Amusing still, seeing Mahito's reaction to such an implication regarding the other two curses. Whether or not Geto had been right, it was still a fascinating possibility... how curses worked, when they reacted in any way close to human was something to be studied further.

"Mm, surely you have discovered other means of entertainment than simply transfiguration, yes? Of course there are plenty of ways to change shape and die, but there are an equally boundless amount of ways to enjoy living, too."

Leaned back in his seat, he crosses one leg over the other, arms folded over his chest. His gaze drifts to stare at the quiet third in the room, finding himself now curious as to what Choso may do in his spare time; should he leave Mahito and Geto here alone, how would he entertain himself on his own?

There is some temporary apprehension in taking steaming dish into his own grasp, heterochromatic eyes gazing over cuisine with a mild curiosity. There was a specific smell to it that, as of now, he lacked the wording to describe ; good, yes, but it transcended such a basic compliment.

Utensil is taken in hand, a fair sample of rice and curry resting upon it as Mahito guides it into his mouth. It practically melts at his tongue, and much to Geto's assurance - much better than some ripped - apart limb that had been afoul for days.

❝ Ah, how tasty! And this is something eaten often? My mouth hurts some, but it's not the sort of pain that I'm familiar with. Bearable, but ... different! ❞
