After knowing each other for half a year and getting pretty close, they end up kinda

Mutually falling into it one night when she's staying over with him (at that point sleepovers are very very common and she's over there basically every night)

They're totally inseparable after that, he's her emotional crutch and she grounds him through a lot of the craziest stuff that's happening in his life

Their families both kinda fall apart at the same time so they definitely turn to each other for support
