Decades Challenge Rules Update!!!

At last, the long-awaited update to the Decades Challenge Rules has arrived! The update includes My Wedding Stories, Werewolves, High School Years, Growing Together, and all Kits released as of 6/1/2023. I have also worked to capture two years’ worth of base game updates - if you notice that there’s something missing from this update, please let me know!

The biggest change is a MASSIVE overhaul to Aging & Time which was required with the introduction of Infants. Later this week I plan to share a spreadsheet which can serve as a time calculator based on the year each of your Sims is born, so be on the lookout for that soon!

Hi! Your Decades family has made me fall in with the decades challenge. Enough to start my own! Would you have any tips for prepping the starting family? Oh, and managing the storyline. Since I imagine it gets complicated with the eras and family members!

Awww, thank you!!! I love my little family so much, I’m so glad the Johnsons have inspired you! As far as starting goes, I’d recommend you think through how you want to begin. Do you have a bachelor and need to find a wife? Are they already married (like mine) and ready to start a family? Do you have anyone else (parents, siblings, pets) living in the home? And do you have a general idea of where this would take place IRL? For example, my family started on a farm in the South (a former plantation), but if I’d been in California or Oregon, it would have been more of a frontier story.

As for managing the storyline, I would recommend you make a choice at the beginning and be consistent. Some people like to follow all the non-heir sibling families, but I decided to stay focused on the primary heir bloodline. Best of luck as you begin your Decades Challenge journey!
