He couldn't though. Even if Dani didn’t outright say it was a bad idea to do this again, Jamie’d see it in his face, and he couldn't stand that.

So I’ve been thinking this since last season, when the bi!Buck storyline came out and in the subsequent interviews, they let slip that they’d planned a Buddie storyline after the shooting.

That means in season five, we were seeing the remnants of that story, the story that was scrapped by the higher-ups.

Since they premiered the fucking Kim!Shannon!doppelgänger storyline, the Chris going to Texas storyline, I’ve been sitting with this niggling feeling that they’re trying to get Eddie back to the mindset he was in in season five.

Remember? The quitting, the I’m-fine-I’m-fine-I’m-fine until he was suddenly NOT and in daily therapy while Buck was in a “happy” relationship but also constantly there for Eddie. I’ve been sitting on the feeling they’re trying to recreate that, trying to get both Buck and Eddie back to who they needed to be to tell the love story they had planned originally.

And now—now look at where we are.

We’re in season eight, but we’re back in season five. We’re closer to canon!buddie than we’ve been in YEARS.

They’re resetting the board, have BEEN resetting the board, to tell us the love story they’ve wanted to tell us since the beginning and I can’t WAIT.

my advice to everyone is to stop identifying with your mental illness or disorders. centering your identity around being unwell will inhibit you from reaching a destination where you are well.

nah since marvel is trending again I’m going to say it again louder for the people in back — canon steve rogers would never have chosen an “idyllic 1950s white pickett fence life” because the only place that man belonged was a picket LINE. the whole point of his character was that his work was never done. there was always going to be another oppressor, another bully, another person who takes advantage of the underprivileged for him to stand up to. from the moment he gained consciousness he, a chronically ill son of a working class mother living below the poverty line, used his voice and his body to protect & fight for what he believed in. I’m not sure there was ever a time pre-super soldier serum where he didn’t have a black eye. he could put the shield down all he wanted but he could never retire from being steve rogers — someone who never once turned a blind eye, who never once wanted a “reward” for his work, who never once abandoned his friends. this isn’t up for debate. this is almost a century of comic book & film/animated precedent. he may have been a man out of time, but in his words “it’s tempting to want to live in the past. it’s familiar, it’s comfortable. but it’s where fossils come from”

Gandalf elects not to tell Sam that he killed the spawn of a primordial demon.
