âThe Mermaidâs Cove?â Jane quirked a brow before pushing the tavern door open. She walked inside, surprised at how quiet the place was, and went straight to the bar. She could get used to the atmosphere of the tavern. Definitely better than the Faithful Bride with all those drunk pirates and whores everywhere. Jane eyed the girl who seemed to be managing the location and smiled at her.
â âEllo there, lass. Could you get me a pint of ale?â

Jane Beckett //Â cutlxss.
The way he was suddenly grabbed was surprising and unexpected and the young man was about to draw his sword with his free hand, had he not seen the culprit of said act. It was a beautiful woman, and not some drunkard pirate or imposing hooker. The revelation made him lose his ground for a second, in the middle of the mess that was the loud and ill lighted street.
His lips parted looking for words as his hand stopped by the swordâs hilt. There was no arguing that she was right. It was his fault after all. âI apologise, it was an accident.â he replied at last, chocolate orbs searching hers. She seemed troubled and worry crossed him. He was alone anyway. âItâs fine, you did well in defending yourself.â he quickly corrected, head tilting.Â
âPerhaps I can buy you a drink as an apology? Seems like youâre needing it.â
Jane frowned, opened her lips, closed them and opened them again after a bit of contemplation. âHmm, very well. You can buy the first round, Iâll buy the second.â The woman smiled. âAfter all, I made a mistake as well, by snapping at you.â She added with a mid of shame and modesty. She didnât mean it, really.
With a hand stuck out, the blonde decided to introduce herself. After all, she didnât want to enjoy her drink with an anonymous stranger. âThe nameâs Jane, in case you decide to stick with me after those two drinks.â She giggled before realising how that might sound. âAt the tavern. If you want to drink more than just two rounds. Thatâs what I meant and nothing else, alright?â Jane placed her palm on her forehead.
âLetâs just go before I say another stupidity.â

She loved strolling on the beach at twilight, feeling the warm sand under her feet. It calmed her down, it made her forget about everything bad in her life. Today has been an especially bad day for her. But the walk cleared her mind and she overlooked everything. That was until someone walked past her and shoved his shoulder into hers. It was probably unintentional, but Jane wasnât having it. Not today. Swiftly, she grabbed the stranger tightly, perhaps too tight, by the wrist and looked him dead in the eye.
âLook, mate, I know this is Tortuga and everyone does what the hell they want, but could ye watch where youâre bloody goinâ?â The woman quickly let go of his hand when she realised she might have crossed the line a bit. She meant no harm, and she was definitely not looking for trouble, but she was in a very bad mood and having a dislocated shoulder wasnât on her list. âIâm sorry, I didnât mean to be so rude. If you would be so kind as to forget this I would greatly appreciate it.âÂ
It shocked her that after ten, fifteen years among pirates she still had the manners of a lady.Â

What looks like it may be an 1822 pattern French Heavy Cavalry Sabre (Iâm not so well versed in the French patterns, excuse me if Iâm mistaken. Looking at you @victoriansword) certainly French however, from Czernyâs International Auction House, they dated it ca. 1875-1900 but that may be dubious, though the nature of the guard and blade make it seem as though it may be a presentation sword, which may support their dating, however it lacks the straight thrusting blade appearing on many swords in the late 1800âs, so itâs difficult to say.

Jane spotted the notorious Captain Jack Sparrow sitting in his usual spot in the Faithful Bride. She met him once, though he probably didnât remember her at all. And truthfully, she almost forgot about him herself, had it not been for his striking appearance and odd manners which stuck to her mind. After contemplating whether she should sit with him or no, she grabbed a pint of ale and stopped by his table. Jane profited by the fact that the tavern was rather crowded.
âMind if I sit âere?â She asked, not waiting for a response, already taking a seat. âEverythinâ else is taken.â
