With castlevania Nocturne coming out soon enough, and this reintroducing Maria Renard and Alucard specifically.

I better not see any mar*acard or al*maria or whatever its called. Maria’s 17 in Symphony of the Night when she first meets Alucard, and in the show its likely she’ll be anywhere from 12 to 17! [Going on the thought that this is a mix of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of course]

Also as a sidenote. Before it gets started in this fandom, since Trevorcard is so popular. Don’t you think its kinda weird to ship Richter with Alucard as well. Thats. Trevor’s descendant, no matter how many centuries in between.

Konami has released non-canon things before lol. Circle of the Moon alone- made in 2001, SEVEN YEARS before the original broadcast of Nocturne of Recollection! Circle was never even meant to be canon! Several other pieces have also been retconned! Legends, the N64 games. I’m sure there’s more I’ve missed.

And guess what. An infatuation, a crush! doesn’t make the ship canon! “We don’t know if they were lovers or not.” Your very own words! So what if Maria has romantic feelings! A person having romantic feelings doesn’t mean they get into a relationship with someone they like that way! Alucard and Maria don’t even call each other as such apparently as you said!

Also guess what! Someone living with another person is not undeniable proof theyre in love or *anything* similar! Roommates are a thing. Friends are a thing.

It’s not undeniably canon! They shouldn’t go anywhere near that route just knowing the writers! [I know many were replaced but I sure don’t trust the new team handle a childhood crush well!] How is it in character for Maria- this I am genuinely curious on! You do *not* have to be honest because as far as we’ve managed to deduce this is in fact *not* 100% canon!

i think the belmont clan has a wide variety of family recipes passed down through the ages and most of them are various roast meats and stews, and 99% of them incorporate garlic (make the vampires ALLERGIC to YOU!!!) and maybe some energizing potions and stuff to keep them alert in battle. belmont recipes are considered staples in the areas they live(d) as theyre often simple to prepare and filling, and the family wasnt too secretive about their preparation when asked

Oh man, I frankly hadn't even considered this. But that is true. Maybe they work it into the narrative- why being a Belmont for Richter is that heavy weight in netflixvania? If that makes sense as to my reasoning.

[Juste shows the abilities of the witch -> accusations from others but generally respected -> affects how Richter is viewed -> Richter wants to prove himself otherwise to the legacy]

Also honestly I would take the tweet liking as pretty decent evidence given how the Deats brothers were with liking before the teaser trailer dropped.

In the initial teaser announcement for the series they specifically said 1792- and the name Nocturne is taken from Symphony of the Night's original name- Nocturne in the Moonlight. Plus Symphony is like. Real popular so if theyre going to cover Simon and Juste there's gonna be a flashback. [Juste can reasonbly be alive tho]

True though, so much of what mattered to Symphony was covered, I have to wonder what they'll do with Alucard. Plus he never went to sleep at the end of the show. So that's an issue too.

One issue i see is that with Trevor not getting the kill, and Dracula get a good ending like he did completely ruins said legacy that builds to Richter's story and the way its carried. [The weight of the legacy *matters*.]

Yep, unfortunately in the original Netflix series they already blew off a *lot* of major psrts of canon, most especially parts that build to Richter's story. They can't do it again, not to that degree.

Plus Richter's story is a pretty important one, they better not screw this up.

Honestly with just what is said, about 'not listening to her'. I'm instead wondering if something happens to *Annette* considering her potential fate in DXC, that would cause this conflict.

Why wouldn't Richter want to listen to his love? I think it's a fair reason there would be an argument- plus Juste may know something of wanting to listen to someone you knew well even when something is so clearly *wrong*. And not wanting to face the truth of what had happened.

But this is just my own speculation.

ok but if that actually is juste at the very beginning of the promo, i’m kind of afraid of the implication his words have. it sounds like he’s trying to argue with richter, so i have a very bad feeling that the writers are going to try to strain richter’s and juste’s relationship.

i’m not saying that you can’t write that. if you understand juste’s character and what he went through, you can properly write him having a rocky relationship with his grandson. i mean, i tried it, and i think it worked out fine.

i don’t know about the new writer’s understanding about juste and richter’s relationship, so i don’t know how they’re going to execute that.

however, their relationship is really easy to mess up. from what i’ve heard (in promo), they might go down the cliche ‘old man who’s stuck in his ways vs. the cocky hunter’, when it should be something a lot deeper and complex.

i really want the writers to write their relationship in a way that we can understand where the both of them are coming from. i want them to be neither wrong or right, but valid. i want the audience to know that juste is only trying to be cautious and protective of his (grand)son and that richter only wants to prove himself to a great clan of warriors.

juste tells richter that he “always has a choice” about something, making me believe that he isn’t agreeable about richter doing what he’s doing. that’s probably going to be a plot point in the show.

anyways, i wanna see where this goes, and i pray it’s handled well

I'm glad to see someone else point this out. Richter's story of legacy and doubt relies a lot on what previous belmonts have done. That being kill Dracula. But with Dracula having a peaceful end and Trevor not getting the kill... I don't know.

Netflix has kicked me in the teeth so many times over the past few months with their fumbling of animated projects that I can't even look at the teaser for Castlevania: Nocturne with anything but "...Okay."

Well, I can say that there isn't any Belmont that *directly* follows another, if that makes sense. It usually skips a few generations. Many like Trevor and Christopher [a game character] or just one generation like Simon [another game guy] and Juste, his grandson.

Juste could technically fall into that pattern with Richter, but its unconfirmed whether he is Richter's father or Grandfather.

There is a special case with Christopher and Soleil [his son], and the only time this happens.
