everyone in the world is either a democrat or a republican. everyone in the whole wide world is a democrat and a republican and america is the largest and most populous country in the world and america is easily the most culturally diverse country in the world because the middle class white people in my state (like a little country) are very different than the middle class white people over there (another little country, once more called a "state") and you could never understand how bad it is in america, the main country in the world. where are you from again? it's bad in america and america is bad but the way that america is run is the only way a country could possibly be run unfortunately. i don't like it but it's the only right way for a country to be run and you don't get it because the main victims of the main country are all here and you aren't. where are you from again? they never told me about that place. i don't think you get that real people live in america. probably because you're a republican. real people live in america and real people are hurt by america but what can you do? god said america has to be like this. god said this because god is real so god is american. you don't get it because you're over there and we're all here in america, the realest country in the world. where are you from again? how can you talk like this with what's happening in america? you're a democrat, right? where are you from again? my country is so large it stretches over yours and presses down hard. it's not my fault that they never told me about that place. my country covers the world. you don't understand how bad this will be for real people in the real world, the first world, the only world. they never told me—where in america are you from again?

my girlfriend is so fucking cute. we had a discussion on our finances bc we're moving in together in the next couple of months, and she fucking got horny from me talking about financial responsibility & my budgeting setup
#i have a really strict system from when i was living on a shoestring budget and it's still in place even now that i have a decent income#which means that when we were discussing how much we're both going to be putting into our shared account#i was very easily able to be like ok taxes are this much yearly; electricity and gas are this much per month; etc etc; therefore our total#costs are x; which means if we split that 50/50 and i pay the mortgage we both end up spending less than we do now#which means we can save xyz towards a new kitchen etc etc etc#(and she grew up financially insecure so it's v important to her that we're financially compatible in terms of having a budget)#vi tag#also!! with this plan we can finish paying off her student loans in like the next 5 years!!!!! which made her short circuit#bc for context: her mother never finished paying off her own college loans & dropped out bc she got pregnant so it's so important to my gf#to be able to be rid of that burden at some point#anyway tmi and tldr we're moving in together! and we've talked abt this before abstractly but now with actual numbers

man, I hate being disappointed by reads I thought would be right up my alley
#lukewarm metaphor for aliens being like trans people or other minorities for being othered? check#honestly. i was promised body horror and all i got was a couple characters turning green because they're plant people. cmon now#also the main character asking the alien pterodactyl for its pronouns and if it was a boy or a girl would've made me DNF if i wasnt at 94%#I'm sure the author's heart was in the right place but tbh. least interesting exploration of alien plant people genders i have ever seen#they ALL replied 'our genders don't map onto yours but also im a girl :)'#also also taking 'vampire alien invading species that snatches kids and replaces them with exact copoes But Plants' on 1 side of a metaphor#and putting trans people on the other side of that metaphor? bad look! bad look. with the whole uh 'protect our kids from trans folks' thing#thats happening rn#anyway yeah i read overgrowth and it was decent for a mindless afternoon but not like. good
