Why nutrition?
To begin with a few topics in nutrition that interests me are the human breast milk and malnutrition. These topic interests me because although we make think we know a lot about these topics its so much deeper than that. Lets talk about HMO (which is also known as Human Milk Oligosaccharides) it has the following: it is a big sugar in breast milk, it helps the immune system and the digestive tract by encouraging good bacteria in the fetuses stomach, enforces stability in the stomach, and help to block away any bad from the stomach or anything that tries to attack it, it is essential/ the source of nutrient to the fetus. The other topic that interests me is malnutrition it amazes me that a person can be over or under malnourished and I didn't know that. In my opinion being malnourished is to lack the daily or very important nutrients that the body needs to thrive and continue to grow. Its shocking that you can be overweight and malnourished aswell, its not just one fit body type that falls into this category. A topic I would love to learn more about is nutrition and disease management, because it aligns with one of my goals to become a personal chef. This topic is about a plethora of things that could affect your health for example; cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, high cholesterol, and many more. As a personal chef to be learning about these diseases and illnesses can help me understand how to cater to the different people, and cook for them to help them get better or have a more balanced diet. I believe that nutrition may change in the restaurant industry due to all the rising illness and unhealthy diets/eating and the different addictions that some people have that can affect them later on in life. A place I believe that nutrition will not change in though would be the health/ medical field. In a way those people make money from people being unwell. Instead of giving people a set diet they would rather give medication that have so many side affects and continuous surgeries. Its either they under estimate to power of what you put in your body internally or they know that if they told people they would affect their income. Its more a personal decision to eat healthy and educate yourself on what's best for you to incorporate in your meals or what should be removed.
