Abeille Pelletier - 1893-1894 Infant Lookbook

Abeille "Little Bee" Pelletier's clothing represents the general style for babies of both genders from birth to age 4-5. Her clothing is probably going to change the most often this decade as she ages. In general it is very boring. Yes, she is in blue.

At the time blue was a common color to dress little girls in because of its association with the Virgin Mary. Pink being a lighter shade of red was for boys until they switched around the 1940s. The most common color for both genders was in fact beige or white. This was because simple undyed wool and linen tends to be in this color.

As far as I know, Rromani people of the time just let babies run naked / clothed only in a diaper unless it was cold. However since Toulouse and Rosalie are trying to assimilate, this would be deemed improper. Babies and children are considered wuzho (pure) until puberty (for girls it is the first period). They are free from most marime (unclean/impure) until then. After babies are born though they and the mother are considered Marime and must be avoided for 3 days. This is because babies emerge from the genitals which are the most impure parts of the body.

MODERN MAN SET

I've made this set based in the fashion of the early to the middle of 1910s, when the men used big plastic collars (spoiler: they fell into disuse due to fatal accidents that happened in the period. Be careful!) and high waist pants. Hope you like it! (:

L'ART DRESS

Its my first post here! I've started The Decades Challenge and when the decade of 1910 came, I noticed that I wanted much more variety of clothes for this decade (mostly for men and children who have almost none). So I made this dress, it's my first and aren't perfect, but I loved it! And I hope you like it too! (:
