🔄 ❤️🩹 to find my muse trying to hide an injury.
he just hears a loud FUCK! from their workshop, only for them to try and hide the injury from him when he comes running cause they KNOWWW he’s gonna scold them LMAO
It was a relatively quiet day. Vaughn was actually napping, slumped over the table in their apartment. He always insisted somehow that sleeping sitting in a chair was comfortable and not at all terrible for his back. His dreams were orange tinted, to do with food and the sunset outside Sverre's workshop.
The initial sound of whatever it was that caused injury wasn't what woke him up, it was the loud cursing that followed. He jolts upright, squinting in the low light, trying drowsily to determine if what he heard had been real. With no other obvious noise of distress following, he decides to investigate. If it had been a vivid dream, no harm no foul.
As he descends the staircase, he can vaguely hear scraping and quiet muttering. He blinks as he turns a corner and comes face to face with Sverre, who jumps back and looks about as guilty as they can. He stares them down for a minute.
"What happened," he demands finally, watching them shove their hands behind their back, one notably wrapped in a rag that's spotted with blood. Steely eyes cling to the movement and narrow slightly.

Gods, he's like a chastised dog, what with the way he looks up at them, squinting in the light. If he had a tail surely it'd be thumping guiltily behind him as he squirms under the weight of their gaze.
"Phone's dead," he begins. He really doesn't see the reason for their aversion to contacting him directly through the stupid tech in his head and makes it known frequently. So what if it's invasive, he tries again and again to reason. He ain't used to carrying a phone with him to begin with.
"I didn't think it was.. this late," he continues, looking around as if he's confused about where he ended up.
Finally, ".. sorry.."

They’re frowning, mask dangling off one ear to make sure he sees it on them as they power-walk towards him.
“Vaughn-!” a quiet scowl, almost hard to hear over the intensity of the rain on the asphalt, the tires on the wet ground. Crowding his space as they raise the umbrella high enough to cover them both, at least partially. They reach for him, reflexively; take his hand in theirs.
Rain drips off their umbrella into his nape as they stare down at him, eyebrows scrunched, lips pursed, “I’ve tried calling you like 10 times! I got fucking worried-!” Their hand squeezes his, as though to punctuate. They don’t seem to notice.

OC INTRODUCTION:
VAUGHN
introduction:

Vaughn is a cyborg.. type character. Much of his internals have been replaced or reinforced, including bones, organs and a large part of his brain (after he blew it out of his head.)
He exists within the Apex Legends/Titanfall universe specifically, but works in any cyberpunkish futuristic setting tbh
Backstory, etc beneath the cut

Once upon a time young Vaughn agreed to have his construct saved. A perfect snapshot of this young, bright mind. He was a naturally skilled hacker/programmer and thus a valuable subject to.. whomever. (Cough, Hammond, cough.)
Then he continues on his way, slowly becoming more and more entangled within the company. He incurs an impossible debt somehow. Whether it's by using their tech without reading the fine print or discovering something he was never supposed to find, or both, he can't possibly work hard enough to pay back what he "owes" in this lifetime.
So, overworked and overwhelmed, he blows his brains out one night.
That's all not too important. What is important is his mind, the potential there. His creators can't possibly let something like this go to waste. So, something originally intended to be a salvage operation turns into "oh hey his brain is mostly useless but his brain stem is fine and his nervous system just needs a lil dust off," so they decide to spend the time and money (more debt yayy) replacing his brain, face and upper jaw. Then they shove his still fresh faced psyche back into his body, do some tweaking memory wise, make him more subservient and continue to use his skill like nothing ever happened.
They were wanting to put a deep dive port into his head for months at this point and now they conveniently can, along with making his neural interface practically seamless with their tech. They put prototypes into him, things that aren't even available black market. They use him as a human test subject for upwards of forty years.
He works mindlessly, never questioning himself or his purpose.
Then, one day, the work is done. He remembers nothing about this, but he's simply cut off from the mainframe and dropped in favour of newer, fancier toys that don't require so much maintenance. And thus Vaughn finds himself on a planet he partially helped ruin. (Unknowingly.)
For the first year or so, he's despondent. Wandering from place to place while the more delicate tech inside him begins to degrade from wear and tear.
He picks up drinking to ease the unexplainable headaches. Slowly, he eases back into reality. He goes diving for information and sells it to the highest bidder. He quickly builds a reputation for himself in one system then jumps ship and works in another. He doesn't care who he works with, barely looks his employer in the face as long as they pay right.

Fun facts :3
he's six feet tall.
He has a tongue piercing and wears exclusively silver jewelry.
He's kinda pale these days, where before he was a healthy tan.
He does somewhat intimate work with sims using the tech already in his head. Basically he plugs himself in and goes through internal systems to whatever end.
He occasionally allows himself to be of higher status, working for important people openly and letting himself be swept up in the fast life.
He's also probably a slut low-key. Doesn't have any special affinity for either humans or sims or whatever else, he just likes fast cars, sleek jewelry and expensive tastes.
Once he worked beneath a city's don and parted pretty amicably with them.
might add more as I go! For now this is all :3

🌧️ to find my muse in the rain without an umbrella.
(up to you where in their timeline this happens 👀👀👀)
The rain had been coming down for a good few minutes before Vaughn really even noticed. He was sitting on the concrete barrier separating a slow moving car lane from the construction on the other side, his back against the fencing, staring out into space. Loitering, waiting, whatever.
A cigarette burns down to its filter between two fingers as warmish drips of filthy city rain run behind his ear, down his neck, into the collar of his shirt. The swishing of the cars trundling by in the downpour was hypnotic.
When he comes back from wherever he is, Sverre is there, and it's like the damned sun has come out from the clouds. He squints up at them, standing there on the corner of the intersection, haloed in neon light.
"Hey," he says lamely, wincing internally at the croak in his throat.
"Was just.. on my way back to yours.. "
