so, i have to ask -- what specifically did you like about the batman so much that you've seen it so many times? i felt like I personally didn't enjoy it - though, ngl, it's probably because I don't remember any of it because I was high off my ass on two edibles so it probably had nothing to do with the movie itself. genuinely curious!
well yeah ahdhdgs that probably didn't do your viewing experience any favors (although i will say from experience that watching hannibal on edibles is fucking amazing) but. for me it was just the perfect film? it was more like a detective thriller than a superhero movie and for me that gave it a more grounded, realistic element that made me feel invested in the story and characters.
the character of bruce wayne/the batman was also one of my favorite interpretations of him; i loved seeing him go from being severely traumatized, angry and bitter and hurting himself for a cause he didn't even really believe in but had committed himself to in order to avoid properly addressing and processing his personal issues to being a beacon of hope with a renewed faith in his ability to help the city and a commitment to actually making a difference and not just having an outlet for his rage.
also the set and costume design and the way the film was shot were such a relief from how many big productions, especially major household name franchises like the batman, are filmed in a way that feels really sterile and too bright and with such plain ugly costume design and overdone cgi effects (which i know has something to do with worker's unions and it being cheaper and faster to use lots of cgi than pay specialists, and it really shows in a lot of tv shows especially) gotham city felt alive, and its characters looked and felt like people who lived in it and not just people who wandered onto set to read their lines and collect their paychecks. maybe i just don't watch enough good movies, but to me it stood out. idk.

being critical of academia because it’s heavily hierarchical and systemically racist, and saying that individuals within academia are in no way more qualified to discuss academic subjects than non-academics are two completely different things. sjcjdjahe i swear some people think that to get a history degree you just read like. commercial biographies and watch hamilton. idk how to tell you all this but tiktok doesn’t have a peer review process

Earth is losing to the Aliens. You develop a serum and are now on the body littered streets to face the Alien commander. “Weakling! A super soldier serum is useless on your kind!” He exclaims. “That’s why…I made a zombie virus.” You say as you break the vial, releasing a mist into the air

White people who base their entire personalities on the fandoms they’re in have consistently been the most racist people I’ve ever interacted with on this site aside from actual white supremacists. But at least the white supremacists are blatant and obvious about it. They don’t try to trick you into thinking they care about racism.
White people obsessed with fandoms know how to say the right words to make it seem like they care about racism on a very surface level but then throw complete tantrums when you call them out for anything and they dig their heels in and cry their white tears and guilt trip you or deflect instead of listening and taking the opportunity you are giving them to learn and do better because they’re convinced that their ability to say the right surface levels things means they’re the ultimate “ally”. They embody white fragility and white fragility is one of the most exhausting and frustrating things to deal with when you’re a poc asking white fans to do the bare minimum to not contribute to your dehumanization.
This is the main reason why I’ve become fandom adverse. I do not fuck with any fandoms anymore whatsoever because white fans are fucking insufferable.

the word “queer” being used by someone who uses that word to describe their own experience of love and their cherished community should not ever sound the same to you as it does coming out of the mouth of a homophobe. acting like these two types of people are the same is unbelievably cruel
