apartment complex? uh, yeah, i sure hope it is! (the camera pans over to a real life apartment complex with buildings laid out in geometrically impossible escher-esque formations, stretching into the sky beyond human eyesight and disappearing into mist. the comments on the video are full of people asking where the video was filmed and none are ever replied to)

i’m a Spiral man myself but i need everyone to know that francis bacon is THEEE Flesh Avatar of all time
points:
1. His name is fucking Francis Bacon. That’s Already an Excellent Start.
2. His art is all about depictions of human (?) flesh that are, well, like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All rent and shapeless and exposed and tortured and pained.
3. He countless times used sides of meat as symbols in his paintings, as omens of death. I think he saw a little of the crucifiction in them, or vice versa.

4. His use of meat in paintings is supported by countless quotes about the idea that people are pre-meat, and about the innate naturalness of violence and violent consumption.

This is all shit a Flesh avatar says, tell me I’m wrong.
5. His personal life, too, starting in childhood and continuing to his death, was, to keep it on the SFW side as much as possible, dominated by the destruction and the rending of flesh, his own, which he pursued. He would only be in relationships that destroyed him physically, echoing childhood trauma.

“Self-Portrait with Injured Eye”. He went out and got that done, in point of fact.
The fear he captured in his paintings and chased and was dogged by constantly in his life, that feeling he made his art career on: THEEEE Flesh. Mascot. Poster child.

‘Kitsch Kitchen’ designed by British TV personality & designer, Anne McKevitt
Not sure what I’d call the style, it’s like a mix of 1950s-60s kitsch, some Y2K pieces by Inflate & Stefano Giovannoni, and the ’Wacky PoMo’ aesthetic. Memphis-esque patterns (reminds me of Sottsass’s ‘Bacterio’). I think Memphis took some inspiration from the kitschy 1950s formica/Googie stuff, so kinda ties together here.
Scanned from ’House Sensation’ (1998)
