Have you ever been having a normal night and then all hell breaks loose?
So my family and I are anchored in the San Diego bay out on the ocean. It's quite beautiful here with the city lights across the beach, and because of the red tide
( you can read about it here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_tide ) the water is glowing like a lamp full of phosphorescents. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen, glowing a blue green color. Because it's so pretty my father took our kayak out for a little bit to explore the area. We didn't see him again till morning...
I went to talk to my dad when my brother told me he went out. As he often does go out I wasn't worried about it even though it was the open ocean we are talking about here. This was the night I was making "My life as a human", so I was sitting up on deck writing out my very first blog. I sat there for hours, writing and publishing and when I was done, it had already turned midnight. About this time is when we started wondering where my dad was. He been gone for four hours and he usually wouldn't stay gone that long. We started looking around the bay for him and more and more time passed till we heard him yelling (not sounding distressed) so we yelled back but he soon quit. This is when we started becoming truly freaked because it was two A.M at this point. We shined the spotlight we have, out looking for him but we didn't see him. We decided to get the dinghy out (which is a huge process) and go on a search for him. I stayed on the boat while my brother and mom went to look for him but they came back with nothing. At this point we started to think he was probably dead. We were going to call the coast guard in the morning because there was nothing we could do at this point. We were hoping he would show up at night and be fine but after three hours of sleep we were up at six and truly thinking he was dead, drowned or getting hypothermia. I was waking up getting ready to call the coast guard to see the terrible news that he'd been found dead or hopefully alive. My mom and I kept looking out to sea hoping he would come rowing up in the kayak but nothing. When I heard mom sounding hopeful on deck, I went to go check and there he was on a police patrol boat standing out on deck. My mom teared up and shortly after we got him on the boat, hugs all around. We thanked the police, they were very nice and helpful. Then he told us his side of the story.
"I went over to check out the surf to see if we could go on the beach but obviously we couldn't so I headed back for the boat only to find I didn't know where it was. I couldn't see the anchor light we had on so I rowed back and forth across the bay for six hours searching. After that I knew I couldn't find it so I rowed to shore to hopefully get help from the coast guard. I rowed very very far till I ended up at a marina and asked a guy on a boat if I could use a phone to call my wife, the guy told me he didn't have one but there was a motel up the street where I could call. So I walked up to the motel and told them what had happened and asked to use their phone. The lady at the counter said yes but she would have to call security because they didn't know who I was. I told them that was fine but I didn't truly understand where I was until the military showed up. I had no idea I was on a military base and I dont know if you know how big of a deal it is to show up on a military base without being invited. They kept me there asking questions and running my information through the computers for five hours. "At this moment I had mild hypothermia and was shivering all over, they didn't give me anything". After five hours of interrogation they dropped me off in town with my kayak. "I didn't know where I was,I had no shoes, I was exhausted and I knew my family thought I was already dead". I had to walk down the street to find help from some sort police, dragging my kayak for a quarter mile. I did finally find a police patrol boat and they were very helpful and kind. "They asked me some questions and more and more, so I told them after being interrogated by the navy that if they couldn't help me I needed to get on my way". But they said they could help, they just needed some information. "I said ok, with I sigh of relief and gave them the information". On the trip over there they gave me a blanket and were very kind. I also told them to let me stand on the deck to make sure my family saw me because if they saw a police boat headed straight for the boat they would think the worst (and we would have).
We are still recovering from this and it really wakes you up to tell you things are not always perfect. We know some people on boats that have told us this kind of thing has happened to them and it's not always ok, they have lost people on the ocean. And not just the ocean we've lost people on land as well and I'm truly sorry for people who have lost their loved ones. I love you all and stay safe.
Sorry for my lack of good story telling lol

Hello, I will start out with some thing about me to get this journey started. My name is Cyndr, I'm a sixteen year old homeschooled girl from Kentucky and living on a 42 foot sailboat on the west coast with my family of three. You would say we are living the dream, and yes it is wonderful but all things have their ups and downs. I guess you could say we go through the toughest times to get to the most beautiful places. To be honest the west coast is a bitch (accuse my language) but she is a beautiful one at that. I've had the best of moments here on this coast but also the worst (knock on wood. The boat's made of it after all) but this is supposed to be about me for now.
I'm an artist, an author, music lover, also a guitar player and obviously a sailor.
I mostly draw anime art but I'm studying realistic sketches. I want to go to art classes but so far I've been self taught. I am going to take the step to becoming a comic artist and I practice as much as my little hands can handle (there isnt much to do on a boat).
I want to be a great author. That's actually one of the reasons I started a blog, to get started at writing stories. I'm writing a book but it might take a while. The book is about me sailing through the covid-19 pandemic (hopefully it ends well ;).)
My favorite artist for music are BTS at the moment but I'm not just a kpop lover, yes I love hip hop but I like the messages and energy BTS have. Tori Kelly is a beautiful singer and Billie eilish is scary but also a beautiful singer and person.
I guess I can't explain my whole self in one post so I think I might have to leave it at that but I hope you follow my stories. I love and dislike you people (kidding, I love you) and I hope you are living your best life. Be the happiest you can be and remember we go through the tough times to get to beautiful ones.
