I just wanna say that you should always be an advocate for yourself. I was diagnosed with ADHD about 11 years ago, but I always felt like that wasn’t fully everything. About 3 years ago, I started hearing more about autism from friends of mine and from others who had it, and a lot of their experiences made sense and matched up with mine. After doing research and learning more, I realized that could be true for me too. However, upon bringing it up to my mom, she said she never thought of me having it, despite me explaining why I thought this. Nothing against my mother, it’s just that when you raise neurodivergent children, it becomes your normal and you don’t see it as different in the way that someone else would. I’m happy to report that I’ve been officially diagnosed with autism as of a few days ago. I was very sure I had it, but I wanted professional confirmation to fully let me know that I wasn’t crazy for thinking this, and to also quell the thoughts of imposter syndrome that I shouldn’t be allowed to speak on this because I wasn’t actually diagnosed. But I have my diagnosis, and I also have housing accommodations for this next year at university, which will be a great help for my panic disorder/anxiety.

If you feel you are different and want help or confirmation, I urge you to be an advocate for yourself and speak up. There might be people who don’t support you, but there will always be those who do.
