Art 101 absolutely does not teach you human anatomy. If you hear about this in Art 101 it is Most Likely in reference to shape and design.

This logic comes from quick readability (silhouette). This is Shape Language, not Human Anatomy. This is design shorthand for Boy and Girl, not biological evidence of or a guide to either.

If your teacher uses this as an example of how men and women actually look, do not trust that teacher.

Visible Anatomy comes from three main things: skeletal structure, muscle density, and fat distribution. All of those things vary from person to person, in terms of both genetics and as a result of something (bodybuilding, diet, disabilities, etc).

An "Hourglass" figure actually comes from the break between the ribs and the hips, and the ribs and hips generally don't have much of a width difference, otherwise our balance as bipedal creatures gets fucked up.

Are there commonly skeletal differences between afabs and amabs? Sure! But again, depending on your genetics and how you condition your body, the external differences have a lot of crossover, and humans can share traits all the way across the gender spectrum and back.

If it was common or natural for women to have hourglass figures, nobody would sell shapewear and diet pills.

If it was common or natural for men to have wide shoulders and narrow waists, nobody sell workout equipment and protein powder.

This is not anatomy. It's Design Shorthand. It can work really well! Humans can make themselves look like that! But it's not realistic, it's not common, and it's most definitely not Art 101.

as is tradition, i will be holding my fourth annual pride101 giveaway contest!!!! and its the eighth annual pride101!!!!! wtf that's so long!!!!!!!

the prizes:

each week, I'll be selecting someone from the wizard101/pirate101 community to receive a free pride themed drawing of one of their wizards/pirates for the month of june! it'll probably be head shots more than full body shots, but i might do one or two (ya boy is a full time scientist rn!!)
