Introduction

Hello everyone! I’m Sweetpea! You might remember me from my old account Sweetpeawriter which @support terminated because of a glitch in their systems (and still haven’t gotten back to me on). So I’m here! Claire’s still around at @theelvengoddess-tm and I’m here with my rpc account (slash my personal I guess lol).

A rpc account but I also let myself ramble if I want to and reblog memes. I’ll write guides for characters and things soon!

Okay I’ve made so many posts on indigenousrph that I’m like “oh this can act as a mini-psa!” on this subject, that clearly don’t. And I’m sick of all the questions at this point. So I’m going to make AN ACTUAL PSA FOR THOSE WHO ARE GOING TO WRITE NATIVE CHARACTERS.

OUR CULTURES ARE CLOSED. C-L-O-S-E-D. CLOSED. Keep your hands off of our specific cultural beliefs, our specific cultural practices, our specific cultural folklore, and yes, keep your hands off names from our languages.

Save this stuff for Native writers and muns, but keep your fucking hands off of it! THIS IS NOT TO SAY DON’T PLAY NATIVE CHARACTERS, PLEASE I BEG PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY START PLAYING NATIVE CHARACTERS. But write your characters just as you would write any other character, and keep away from any specific cultural things (beliefs, names in our languages, practices like Sun Dance, etc.). We live modern lives, just like you do, so write that of us. But our cultures are closed, so stay away from them.
