Who is Morten and why should you care?
The way you sometimes meet people is crazy. Between musicians and artists in general twice as much. Almost a year ago I happened to work on a school project for three guys running a start-up company in Aalborg. Nothing extraordinary, only until I found out one of them makes music. I instantly went on to stalk his Facebook profile just to find a link with a song on his Soundcloud account.

Jokes aside, I fell in love with the vibe the song was giving me. And just fyi at that time I understood even less shit in danish than I do now. But it was the mood, the mellow, lazy-like way of singing. Production was good too, simple chords, wavy drum loop going all over, it fit the singing. I think I had this song on repeat for next few days and then I found an excuse to write the guy.

Gave him thumbs up for what he does and made it sound and clear I fuck with it heavily. Soon after we started exchanging beats and demos back and forth. After a while we finally got to work together and we do it ever since.
Our collaboration is fairly easy, usually I make a beat and already know Morten’s voice will compliment it perfectly. Then it’s just a matter of right timing and if I’m lucky I’m getting at least a sneak peek of lyrics or a short demo within minutes.
We came up with the description of our music as futuristic, moody R&B beats clashing with blues/soul-ish, melancholically sounding vocals.
“Think Chet Faker having a baby with PARTYNEXTDOOR and the baby having a child with James Blake when older.”

So who is Morten Vifeld Issa? Well he’s a 27 y.o. lad, coming from somewhere in Zealand, in Denmark and even though he’s not from a music family, he’s always been a nerd in this area (besides actually being a nerd and gaming all the time 🙄😅... except when he’s at the gym). He would record mixtapes for his mates when Youtube came (stone age), after which he started experimenting with making beats in Ejay. He was about 15 at that time, listening to Tiesto and Sash, but never trying to be cool just for the sake of it and, by his own words, being more of a hipster in this sense. Time passed and he went through using FL Studio (Fruity Loops) and finally Ableton Live, with which he stuck until today. Morten also touched a basically every genre of music but rock over the course of time, either it was the listening or creating part (hip hop, techno, trip hop, electronica, future garage, deep house, experimental, etc.). But what shaped him the most were definitely people like previously mentioned Chet Faker with James Blake, JMSN, Jono McCleery and Leonard Cohen.
And it was Leonard Cohen and Chet Faker, whose tracks sang Morten along to, when he realized he can actually sing. He always wanted to, but the idea he can do it stroke him later, when he saw how his sister, who was taking singing classes, managed it from zero. However compared to her, he is a self-educated artist, practicing singing alone and learning from tutorials.

So what is it that drives Morten to do music? He does it for the sake of it - he loves music and he loves expressing himself through it, whether it is making a beat or writing a song. He also wanna be good musically, technically and getting recognized would be just an added bonus.
Finally, the most important thing, what to expect from us in the near future? We just agreed we will be putting out a project together in a form of a short EP this year. But for more specifics you have to wait. Until then, check out Morten’s music on his soundcloud and don’t forget to follow both of us on our instagram profiles (yes, there will be leaks, sooner than you think 🤪)
