Our soap survey results. The piece of data we were most surprised by were the fragrance results. We found it interesting that so many people preferred "fresh" fragrances while we both chose different options while talking the survey ourselves. We also were surprised by the colored question. We thought that an overwhelming majority would prefer their soap to be colored, but 40% said that they preferred it not colored.

Checking In
Our project has gotten off to a pretty good start. The first week mostly consisted of brainstorming and formulating our recipes and packaging concepts. Our over-arching theme for the line is “Milton”. All of our products will tie into life at this school somehow. So far, this is what we intend to make:
“Academic Pressure”: A stress relieving soap with vanilla bean and lavender
“All-Nighter”: A coffee-based scrub
“Boat Dance Your Face Off”: Sea Salt Rose-infused Bath Salts
We also found recipes for a brown sugar scrub and a honey goat’s milk oatmeal bar soap. Additionally we want to make a definitively unisex soap, which we would use rosemary, mint, and pine scents. We’re still coming up with packaging ideas for these.
We have three ideas for the brand name:
Dope Soap
Female Fight Club
Dare to be Clean
We’ve done a trial run of the Academic Pressure soap and the goat’s milk soap, as well as the bath salts. The Goat’s Milk soap turned out a little rubbery so we are going to research why that might be and correct it for the next batch.
