My oldest sister’s name is Claudia. She was born perfectly beautiful, just like many other babies, but due to a strong case of meningitis, was left with a profound mental disability, which turned my parents' lives up side down, and brought many, many challenges along the way. But along with challenges, she also gifted us a lesson we will keep forever: To love one another unconditionally. My sister Claudia passed away last night, peacefully in her house, with her loving parents along her side. She doesn't know, but I believe she is the reason our family is as strong, resilient, and close as we are. Throughout her life, she silently weaved a cord of love that will forever link us together. I am beyond grateful for her existence, just the way she was 💚 If you would like to honor Claudia, please consider doing a donation to any organization you like that works with children with mental disabilities and their families. Man-made acts of inaction and cowardice, corruption and absolute lack of compassion for human lives. “I should not have to be here” That’s how an 18 year old started her speech at today’s #advocacyday at the Capitol. She lost her older sister to gun violence, and she wasn’t the only survivor there, lots of brave mothers with their hearts broken were too. Most citizens support common sense gun laws and we asked for 3 very doable things: 1. Require the reporting of stolen guns (you support the police? Then support this) 2. ERPO: give families the opportunity to act. They are the first ones to notice warnings before somebody dies by #suicide or plans a mass shooting. 4.
