He was once a member of a lower house in Ishgard, still clawing its way up the ladder of hierarchy amongst the bigger names.  Tutored and beginning training as a medicus whilst his brother prepared himself to be considered the heir to his father’s position. However, during his tutelage, he became infatuated with a young woman that often visited, another of lower nobility.  This was where his introduction to the rebellion and the beliefs of Iceheart began- and it did not take him long to be completely engulfed by them.   His heresy was discovered upon finding a dravanian rosary, given to him by his newfound lover, and amidst the fighting, he escaped the city- but barely, his lover quickly following after.  Branded a heretic, he received no formal letter of disowning- yet he suspects it all the same, as his work with the rebellion continued on. Even with all that has occurred in Ishgard, he is still very apprehensive about returning home, and often visibly grows uncomfortable at the mention of Ishgard, or Ishgardian matters.
