Hallo dear! Thank you for your very nice words and VERY interesting question (and sorry for the delay in answering: I’ve been a little pressed, of late…)!
I must admit that this curious “double standard” of Sherlock’s might seem very queer indeed, at least at a first impression; even if, when one considers more broadly all the things Sherlock appears eager to correct, AND all the things he appears not to care to correct, one can begin to sense a pattern…
What I mean is, basically, that Sherlock, while being extremely rigorous in correcting any OBJECTIVE mistake, can’t be bothered to try and correct any SUBJECTIVE mistake.
And now I’ll try and explain myself more clearly…
